Oh nice! Ive been into photoshop for about 3 years now, want to start something new. Any good material I could use to kickstart? Like a youtube video or abything?

Not anything off the top of my head. I learned a lot in school and most from the lead artist here at my job. Just keep at it. It's a very different beast than Photoshop. You have to approach it very differently and learn to think in shapes.

Last question. Is a draw pad needed with illustrator?

Lots of people that solely work in Illustrator do not use them. But I can't live without one. I have an intuos 4 large. I am a illustrator at heart so using a pen just feels more natural. I use the pen and mouse about 50/50.
