This is the truth, you can choose to believe it or not...
There has always been light and there has ways been dark. The Traveler, one of many miraculous creations, created by celestial beings is able to capture energy or light and use it to better things, planets and civilisations. The traveler as we call it has been alive for many years, containing unimaginable knowledge of the universe. However the traveler is indeed self aware. And is able to have a conscious will power. The Darkness as we call it, and many more enemies then what we have seen already are
beings that wish to have the creations for themselves. Their rapidly growing, greedy and energy consuming empires would need a device like the traveler to keep their civilisations running. However the celestial beings that created the "travellers" refused to let their beings by abused, however their refusal lead only to their own demise, overpowered by the Darkness. However their creations still remained looking for havens across the universe. The traveller, one of many of its kind found our solar system. Life in the universe is indeed a rare thing but with the advanced technology it is equipped with, it can locate life across entire galaxies. The traveler always knew the darkness would eventually find it, no matter where it went, where it hid. There was no safe place forever and many of the traveller's siblings had already been taken by the darkness, consumed by its power. So when the traveler found us, of course it helped us. With advancing our, weapons, knowledge, technology and what choice did it have? It needed to raise an army in order to protect itself. The final surge of light the traveler released before it fell was not an attempt to save us, but itself. We just happened to be in the right place at the right time on earth, in the city. So, in our views the traveller can be viewed as, selfish. Because you see it has filled the guardians with light, it has made the ghosts for us to use. The traveler is not protecting us, for we are protecting it. It is giving us the power to protect it, the only reason we ate more advanced at all. And even though it is temporarily silenced, when it is revived it will leave us for the darkness to pray on. Because before the darkness resumes its long chase for a powerful being beyond imagination, it will consume us and we will be lost, there will be nothing but the blackness. And once the darkness finds and drains the light of the other beings like the traveller itself. It will be unstoppable, and do not assume that it will stop at the galaxy, oh no. The darkness and the traveler come from another galaxy itself. The Darkness has much bigger plans, and if something is not not done about them, the the universe will be lost. And there will literally be nothing, to stop anything The Darkness attempts from happening. Hell, we know that we are dead already, for one of the darkness beings we conflict with has the power to manipulate time. The traveler and the beings that created it itself did not have that power. The darkness grows ever intelligent and ever powerful, and, although this may sound blasphemous, maybe we should submit ourselves to its reign. Although we know their reign is one of terror and destruction, at least we might survive, as a race and species. Slaves we may be, abused soldiers and workers but there is always that sliver of hope, hope that someday we might be revived and come back into the light, or maybe that hope is already lost...
