because people still dont know how this game works
every week i run atheon, every week i hear some douchy kid make a comment about someone being level 30 instead of 31-32, and every week i tell them "once you hit the level of your enemy, any levels past that are completely irrelevant. being level 30 or 32, you take the exact same amount of damage and deal the exact same amount of damage to atheon and his merry minions" (i have bad maw and his merry midgets fresh in my head).
and they all give you that stunned kid answer "duhhhhhh well yeah buttttttttt........"
but what? but you're an idiot and just looking for something to complain about?
and then that same guy goes ahead and dies to a supplicant.

If a boomer is level 32, when you're 32 of course you do more damage then you do a 31. 31 is below the level of the boomer. 32 is the same level as the boomer. Once you go ABOVE their level damage does not change. You could be level 48 and still hit that boomer for the exact same damage as a level 32 (provided of course all else is held equal, like weapon attack) Not a tough concept to understand. That said, a level 32 attacking atheon does the exact same amount of damage as a level 30. Identical. Zero difference. Because Atheon is level 30. Once you hit 30, you're capped. Same goes for defence (with the exception of the minimal armor increase that comes from you gear)

Yeah the level is scaled but armor with light level 36 have higher defense stats which do not scale and always come into play. So 32s can take more damage.

32s die just as fast as 20s vs even lvl 2 enemies.

Actually each light leval does 30 percent more damage and each single point of damage on a weapon does 3 percent more damage so it does friggen matter dumbass

this happened to me once while running relic on Templar ( btw I am very experienced using the relic and was the "relic guy" before bungie add the random teleport at atheon. Random1: so who is gonna take the relic Me: I'll do it if thats ok with you all Random1: sure go ahead man Random2: but he's 30 ... Random1: YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE 32 TO HOLD RELIC ! and then he kept on how level don't matter while I was bossing the templar and keeping him from teleporting . I think the both of us managed to really convince the rest of the group that level doesn't really matter in VOG as long as you're above 30

notice how it takes two melee hits to kill a level 2 vandal when you're level 32. THE SAME AMOUNT OF HITS AS WHEN YOURE LEVEL 2. level means absolutely after you hit the level of your enemy. people just don't get it.

See the thing is the enemies' health differs if they are level 30 they have more health than at level 26 per say. Your armor. If your armor isn't maxed at level 30 you can take more damage than someone who's at level 31 and have maxed their armor out completely. also your class distrubtion and even agility play a factor. If you have higher agility enemies can't hit precision shots on you as easy. Melees grenades, rockets boomers etc can do procession damage. Don't believe me try using the homing grenade with the warlock, hunter. or fire a ghjallarhorn at a cabal or reaver with a big head watch the numbers change on the precision damage. thsi works the same way when enemies kill you especially those hobgoblins and boomers! but the point is. people lie about their experience. its possible to get a group of 6 (5 liers) who say they've ran hard mode before, but never have. All at level 30 with unmaxed gear. I'd rather bring some 31 or 32s in to ensure atleast 3 people if not all 6 of us know what they are doing. When you are on a tight schedule (schoool work etc.)

Melee kills work differently.. I notice a huge difference from being 31 to 32. You have more amour and you can 1 shot goblins in the gut.
