News flash!
You're problems aren't unique. In fact tons of people out there have it worse than anyone on this forum.
Stop wallowing in self pity and go live your life.
Some perspective
I used to work with a man from south sudan who was on a worker green card program.
I don't know the current situation there anymore, but at the time, North Sudan, which is Muslim, was attacking south Sudan, which is Christian, and literally slaughtering people. He saw his brothers get killed, his dad get killed mercilessly. He has no idea where his mom and sisters are after they got separated at a refugee camp he lead them too. Planes flying over head meant they were getting bombs dropped on them, basically he had no idea if he would live to see the next day. Luckily he got into that work program, and he was saving up money for his family while staying in contact with the U.N. to find his family he got separated from.
This man, even after all that tragedy and hardship and legit things to be depressed over, still kept his head high and kept going forward with his life, finding joy and being hopeful for the future. It really gave me a huge reality check that day he told me about his past and and gave me a lot of perspective.
So if you're sitting there feeling depressed. Shame on you.
In that situation you don't have other chance, you must wait patiently, problem is,people on depression are not in the same situation, they are not in a war,and the one who look like exemplars of bravery they aren't,one cannot suffer a lot without going in depression, they might not show it in the day, maybe when they are alone and secure that no one is watching. I did the same until i couldn't handle it,that left me with horrible pain that cannot be removed.

Feeling sad and grieving is different from being depressed. One is natural, the other is caused by the individual wallowing in their own sorrow instead of getting out and getting the proper stimulation they need.
-
Screw you! There are a lot of people, myself included, that suffer from severe depression, bipolar, PTSD, and/or other legitimate medical problems. Don't you dare group us with those whiny little bitches that think their lives are over just because they didn't get a car for their 18th, or some other ridiculous bs
-
You'd be amazed what a little determination can do.
-
Determination can not overcome a crippling chemical imbalance in ones brain
-
Edited by Britton: 3/28/2015 7:00:24 AMIt can get you out and doing the things that produce the chemicals to create balance again.
-
Oh yeah, let's see you get out and do things when the only thought on your mind is suck starting a nine mil. Hell, the one and only reason I'm still alive is because I know what awaits me if I break a promise I made to someone on the other side and end it myself, and believe me, I've been tempted, many a time.
-
Quit being a crybaby. Go exercise, go outside, go meet people. Live your god dam life.
-
People like you are a large chunk of the problem. Would you tell a cripple to just walk it off. Would you tell a burn victim that appearances don't matter. Would you tell a serial killer to simply be a good person. No And just because you can't see the problem you assume that it doesn't exist or deserve merit. Here's some news for you, depression is a real problem, hell it claimed robin Williams, one of the funniest people alive. And you say just ignore the feeling of worthlessness, uselessness, inadequacy, loneliness and simply get over it.
-
I'm not saying ignore those feelings, I'm saying go live your dam life to fix those feelings. Sitting around being depressed doesn't fix depression.
-
No it doesn't, powerful medication does Or weed and meditation in my case
-
Or getting off your ass and doing things that help your brain produce the chemicals it needs. Like endorphins.
-
OK, I've had a nights sleep and have given it a lot of thought, and I have come to the conclusion that you are either a really determined troll, or a sheltered little kid that this yet to experience the loss of a loved one close to your heart.
-
Edited by Britton: 3/28/2015 4:18:53 PMDefinitely not a troll, I'm 26, and 3 and a half years ago my daughter was still born at 28 weeks. Hardest and most painful thing I've ever experienced, and I never wish that on anyone. It emotionally hurt so bad it physically hurt, I literally felt broken. So wrong on both of your statements.
-
Then why are you such a colossal dick
-
Edited by Britton: 3/28/2015 4:27:22 PMBecause I've learned the only way to overcome extreme sadness and pain is to GET UP OFF MY ASS AND GO LIVE MY LIFE. I had a choice, focus on the pain and sorrow and feel sorry for myself, or accept what happened, and keep moving forward with my life. Does it make me sad when I think about it? Of course. The point is bad things happen to everyone. To think your bad situation is unique, you're a fool. People out there have faced far worse and come out on the other side. How things affect in the long term is largely up to you. How you handle those problems is 100% up to you. Focus on what you can control.
-
And while that does work for most problems, you CAN NOT simply get over a frelling mental disorder that way. It is a chemical imbalance in the brain, let's see how happy you are when your body refuses to produce endorphins and other chemicals.
-
Have you ever thought about self treating your chemical imbalance by doing activities that produce the proper chemicals?
-
Edited by Thudd224: 3/28/2015 4:42:17 PMYes I have, it does not work that way. I have had severe crippling depression all my life, hell my first suicide attempt was at four years old. I have been to therapy, tried the meds(I would rather fell sad than be a zombie), I've tried activities that are supposed to produce those chemicals in your brain. Depression is a real problem, so please stop treating it like its not.
-
I still say the large majority of people with depression are just being self absorbed with their own problems.
-
Edited by Thudd224: 3/28/2015 4:52:34 PMThat I agree with, most people that claim to be depressed are just unhappy with their lives, bored, and lonely. However, there are a lot of people who do need help, however they can get it. And that's what the op, and a few fellow bah posters are doing here, trying to help. Why? Because we have been there, and somehow survived it. Life is beautiful, tis sad that for so many people it is nothing but a dark pit of despair and failure.
