What's the point in a 4k TV when games aren't produced to that level? Even 1080p isn't standard on every game yet

The only one that is, is the Witcher 3 not out yet but 4k compatible.

I'm guessing this post is referring to console gaming?? It's just the PC that will run 4k, us console gamers will have to wait for PS5 I imagine

1080p is quite popular on many PS4 and PS3 games. 4k isn't a must nowadays, but if you have the cash why not future proof your investment? I mean people that buy TVs at the $1000 to $3000 range don't buy a TV to replace it every year. The Sony 4k I just bought replaced a LED LCD Toshiba I purchased 4 years ago. So I probably will not purchase another for another 3 to 6 years. Why not get the goodies now?

Netflix do 4k shows now too and they look great
-
Even if every new game was 1080p as standard, it's still not 4k so a 4k TV is not needed, it's like buying a Ferrari and never getting out of 2nd gear

For gaming 4k is very far away from reality. Yet who only uses their TV gaming is the point. I watch a lot movies and that's where 4k is definetly here.

If you're into movies big time then fair enough, the 4k film list is growing. Games and TV are way off though as you said, pesonally i'll wait until 4k is as common as 1080p became a few years ago then upgrade, plus it'll be cheaper then too

Well I had the greenlight to buy a new TV from the wife, which doesn't happen too often. So I had to go the way that meant long term investment.

You do right, make the most of those rare, golden opportunities :)
