The people who get hard light from xur have earned theirs. The ones who already had a hard light, or any other exotic that xur then sells, were randomly gifted it. The people who actually tried hard on earning their 'written-in-stone' strange coins rewards from weeklies, earn the exotic. They put work and time into it. The ones who are gifted by random, don't earn it.

Then the Iron banner turns up and people can use Glimmer to get armour and weapons too. How DARE they. Multiple ways to get things other than the way one particular group do it? What is this MADNESS P.S. I even heard a horrible rumor that in the last few months people can buy upgrade materials to level up weapons without spending hours running around planets opening chests etc... What have they done to this game :) it used to be such a grind. oh no wait, actually none of this bothers me...
