Destiny = Pay To Play
I hate how one of the weekly strikes
REQUIRE you to have TDB expansion; it makes me sick with anger whenever I ask my friend "Hey wanna run through the nightfall strike with me real quick?" and he replies "Nope, can't. It's omnigul." My friend doesn't have the expansion pack. The hell, Bungie?!?! My friend could have gotten an exotic, or a weapon that is absolutely OP in the crucible, but you deny him that chance because of this.
He can't get above level 30 either, so that means he gets stomped in the Iron Banner. (There's some Pay To Win for ya.) He can't get HoC and doesn't have G-horn, so it takes forever to find a VoG group that isn't full of the kind and intelligent elitists that we all know and love.
There are even places that are from the HoW that people have [i]already glitched into[/i]! (I've done it myself.) The $hit that we are all psyched to throw our money at is already in the game! Why are they making us pay for something that is already in the game?!
I'm so afraid that this rumored "Comet, Plague of Darkness" Mega DLC will also feature the content for the other two remaining DLCs. The Comet bs will be so full of Pay To Win/Play at this rate. What if the rumored new subclasses are OP? What if the weapons in this expansion are OP?
The bungie I know wouldn't do this. (Hell, any smart company wouldn't do this...)

Bungie never did anything of this magnitude to us loyal fans before they paired up with Activision. They were great to their crowd when they were paired up with Microsoft, even.[/spoiler]

Edit 1: I play with him on PS3. He got his own a long time ago, and he got Destiny for his birthday from another friend.
Edit 2: You guys totally are right about the term Pay To Play and how I should have expected a lot of expansions. Don't get me wrong, I like the dark below. But I really think that having to pay for content that's already in the game is fuqed up. I don't believe that you should have to pay again for something that you already paid for.

8 RepliesI'm only responding to the IB bit, he can get vendor gear without the dlc. I have friends without it sitting at 32 because of banner gear. And in the IB there is a 4 light range of no advantage/disadvantage. So being light 30 means he will be at the same fielding as a 32.

Ok so I read this stuff all the time and I have a few points. Correct or no, and mostly opinion. You paid for what Bungie gave you and no more. Wether they released all the content or some does not matter. Wether it is fair or not does not matter. It costs roughly 60$ and most of you have played it for hrs and hrs. In any other form Bungie has given you quite the value. If by the end of your first run through the game you have found it lacking then stop playing. It most likely is not and will not be the last time you have spent 60$ on a game you didn't like quite so much or that you feel has underperformed from what you thought it would be. It's ok. Get ready for the next game. When it comes to the DLC all I hear is complaints on the price. In COD or BF4 you get maps for multiplayer for that price. No added gameplay otherwise mostly. The added raid and maps for PvE plus the gear and such is more than reasonable in comparison. I am in no way saying that you are poor or otherwise, but if you want the game then find a way to afford it and if not then I'm sorry but you'll hopefully get the chance someday. It's 1 week, you will survive. Businesses are there to make money. Loyalty is mostly a lovable ideal kept alive by friends and kids. Not by business. Bungie is not your friend. They like your money and most certainly want you to enjoy the game. Don't get caught up in what their reps say. Enjoy the game or not. Keep playing and paying or don't. But stop acting like people owe you anything.

So you are telling me your friend can afford to buy a Playstation, a $60 game, but can't afford to spend $20 on DLC for a game he likes?

Wah Wah Wah I already paid for something and when it was released I was told there would be dlc. Hell I even had the option to buy it at launch as well but I didn't and now I don't have it and I'm crying to everyone about it. We are all sick of hearing this go tell your mum about it we aren't going to buy it for you....

1 ReplyOf course it's pay to play. If you didn't pay for the game, you can't play it at all. If you didn't pay for live or psn, you cannot do numerous things in the game. And if you didn't pay for TDB, you can't do activities associated with it. But thanks for stating the obvious!

Also the only dlc weapons you cant get are raid guns and the necro all dlc armor and guns you get without dlc exept raid stuff

Answer disk is 22 gigs big no where near the size of the game alot of its locked on the servers not on disk
