The problem is that Destiny is quickly addictive and most players seem to run through all the content in a short time. Once they reach the top level and have conquered the raids and have all or most of the Exotics - then what is left to do? For me it is the fun of playing with friends and since I haven't conquered the raids on hard yet I have that. Also, now that I have Exotic Bounties - I can look forward to learning PvP. I such at it now - but one day I will get decent at it. So I have a slower approach and the game doesn't become boring to me. My advice to all noobies - slow it down cowboy. Take your time.
