Beijing finally successful in blocking out the sun.

In an ill-conceived attempt to combat global warming, scientists in Beijing, China have finally succeeded in [url=http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-21005228]completely blocking out the sun[/url]. Once they realized the smokescreen was actually toxic to humans, and ironically, contributing to greenhouse warming effects, [url=http://www.cnn.com/2013/01/14/world/asia/china-smog-blanket/index.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+rss%2Fcnn_world+%28RSS%3A+World%29]the government finally stepped in issued alerts for all children and elderly to remain indoors and avoid breathing if at all possible[/url]. It halted driving and production at major factories around town to ease the demand on coal plant and let the city, literally, come up for air.

  • Interestingly, the state-run media and hospitals have been let off the leash to actually discuss this now. Hospitals have been reporting double the average rate of heart attacks since the severe pollution came in. The government also acknowledged the pollution and even furnished accurate data on it, even though standard practice has been to call it a "foggy day" and move on. Turns out, the pollution is scoring a record 750 on a danger index that only goes to 500.
