I think that Bungie made a mistake with the economy of the Factions. Faction reputation and levels are alright, but instead of Crucible marks to purchase items from the faction, it should be purchased with Faction Marks.
1. Each Faction should have its own marks (i.e. New Monarcy marks, Dead Orbit marks, & FWC marks). These marks could only be used to purchase items from that specific faction, Vanguard, or Crucible. I.e. FWC marks could not be used to purchase New Monarchy or Dead Orbit gear.
2. Faction marks could be exchanged for Vanguard or Crucible marks at a rate of 2 Faction Marks to 1 Vanguard or Crucible Mark.
3. Vanguard or Crucible marks could be exchanged for Faction marks at a rate of 2 Vanguard or Crucible marks to 1 Faction Mark.
4. Only guardians with the Faction class armor (cloak, mark, or bond) equipped could purchase equipment from a particular faction. I.e. A hunter would have to have a NM cloak equipped to purchase MN gear (except for the NM cloak).
5. A guardian could only have class armor from one Faction (i.e. a warlock could not have both a Dead Orbit mark and a FWC mark (would have to dismantle one to acquire the other). Faction class armor could not be stored in the vault.
6. Faction gear could not be removed from the vault without equipping the matching Faction class armor (cloak, mark, or bond).
7. Drops of faction gear would only be for the matching faction. I.e. a guardian with NM class armor would not get FWC gear from a drop.
This would have had several benefits:
-. Equalize PvP & PvE in the Factions.
-. Give reasons to do missions with and without a faction class armor item equipped.
- Give increased emphasis to Factions.
