Gjallarhorn Drop Rate
Hey guys!
I have finally received my first Gjallarhorn this week from Crota normal.
Ever since, I have seen Gjallarhorn everywhere. I even finished a Crota hard checkpoint with 5 people having this rocket launcher equipped.
We see the people that are asking for this weapon every week from Xur and from RNG. Even though we say this gun is one of the rarest exotics, I honestly think it is not.
What do you think ? Is Gjallarhorn rare or not ?

I've only see people get it from legendary engrams and raid

1 ReplyI have been playing since drop and never got it. Bungie if you read these comments please incorporate a end of raid trading or make the drops more common. I've wanted that rocket launcher for a very long time.

I don't know... I personally have had 1 but one of the guys I raid with has had at least 7 drop for him. I have had 5 of the Monte Carlo though :/

it is totally rare if you are unlucky for example i never get one but i played the game about 15 days but my friend played about 5 days but he got it :( TOTALLY LUCK!!!

After I posted in here about hardly ever seeing Thunderlord drop, I have seen it drop twice for me and three other times for other people haha.

There have been 16 million players of this game with each one knowing pobably 2 or 3 other players. How would anyone know how rare any weapon is?

I have seen the same guy get 3 in crota (2 in the same raid!) last night he got his 4th again with me, i got last word again.

I got two Gjallarhorns yesterday. One from gorgon chest another from nightfall. It's raining ghorns.

1 ReplyI've gotten a total of 24 g-horns. I've dismantled all but 3. Red death was my rarest gun for a while but now I have everything so the game is now boring haha

Edited by gr1zzlar: 4/9/2015 6:31:54 AMExotic drops arent exactly all the that rare. The problem being is the loot table. I believe that the loot table changes with the reset or every so often. This could explain why you repeatedly get the same exotics for a week or two or three running. I believe that it changes, and that they become weighted of sorts. Example, for one week I received 3 hard lights from various activities. Same with the Plan C. I received 3 over the course of a two week period. Gjallarhorn I received 2 in the same week. Usually when I receive one, I'll get at least one more in that same period of time. Only weapons I haven't received duplicates of is the Red Death, and universal remote. I don't believe there's any way to prove my theory. Speculation at this point, but from what I've seen and read, it appears your loot tables changes every so often, and that certain weapons are weighted each change. That's explains why some guardians received 6 of "x" and none of "y." Statistically speaking, there's 16 exotic weapons from drops. This excludes the 5 bounty exotics and PS exclusives. So there's a 1/16 chance of getting what you want. I've received at least 8 truths, and duplicates of most every other exotic. If it was truly random, Id find it that you wouldn't get the same exotics on drops each week. I wouldn't have expected 3 hard lights that one week. That's a 1 out of 4096 chance of that happening. Although in actually it's always 1/16 chance. Repeated receiving the same exotic in a short period doesn't seem likely unless they are weighted and change every so often.

Been playing since beta. Have 3. Almost everyone I play with has at least one also.

2 RepliesI have over 1600 hours and have been playing since beta, still no Ghorn so to me it is rare even though I see it drop for others. No Land Drops for me all the time. Last week I got 3 in less then 24 hours.

Seen it drop last night after nightfall. The kid nearly deafened me with his screaming!! Don't think he heard the sarcasm in my voice as I congratulated him while leaving the fire team! :-(

Just got mine today in the VOG exotic chest along with fatebringer at templr. Was an awesome loot day for me :D

2 RepliesIt's one of the most wanted weapons. The rarest exotics is probably Thunderlord, Monte Carlo, 4th Horseman and Hawkmoon on PlayStation. Thunderlord on Xbox.

Most of the population has been playing since September or December although I know some September people who still do not have it. After 6 months, the game gave me 3 in 10 days, so hope for the best and play the cards you're dealt.
