Not at all. I adore the games. Not purely out of quality mind you, but of longevity and nostalgia. I grew up with Halo. I'm very familiar with its nuances, and it's shaped who I am. Playing the games is just an all round pleasant and comfortable experience. As I've gotten older, and I've had more games to compare Halo to (not to mention majoring in Game Design and Development), I've begun to realize that the gameplay itself isn't really that special. It's social functionality is a major factor in why the games exploded in popularity. The story isn't exempt from flaws either. It blatantly copied StarCraft and Ringworld, and plagiarized StarHammer.
