Backseat Swordrunners

Its getting under my skin more and more each week when someone who doesn't use the sword and is not that experienced with the raid attempts to give advice on how many times to hit Crota when he's down, what button combination is best, or my personal favorite every time I approach Crota: "Let us know when to shoot!". No shit, kid. Bungie, this is your fault. From each player's name in a fireteam lobby, we should be able to access the most basic stats like how many normal/hard raid completions a player has and how many sword kills a person has. This would prevent those ever-annoying backseat swordrunners and newbs in general from trying to assert themselves over people who have real experience. It would also be a nice show-off aspect of the game since everyone and their mom has the glowhoo shader by now. Give us SOMETHING to differentiate our achievements!! • Damn I didn't realize it was that annoying saying that. I just say it out of habit because I've had a few swordbearers that never said anything. There no such thing as too much cooperation in my mind.

  • More annoying when hunters advertise for experienced hunter swordbearer only on lfg. Why are you not doing it if you deem this a necessity?

  • U seem to not be able to handle team work. I still say the same things when I play it. Why cause there are still runners that don't make the call and they die and it's our fault.

    • To be fair, the amount of sword runners who don't say anything, or waffle on about complete bollocks so the instruction to shoot is lost in the nonsense is getting more and more common place. Advice to sword runners- All your team wants to hear is any preference for bubble or agro at the start, and then the word "fire" when you want the first lot of rockets to go in. Other than that, shut the -blam!- up.

    • Yeah had one the other day. Wouldn't shut up and was generally useless. Whenever I grabbed the sword he would tell me I had to be quicker, get on the rock, oh you should be up there already, oh we need a new swordbearer. STFU. Whenever I actually managed to call for Crota to be downed either 1 rocket came in or the inevitable I've run out of heavy was uttered. I got Crota to within 1 sword swing, danced then left. I was still in the party chat. The rage was strong :-).

    • I don't mind when someone says "tell us when to shoot" over and over, it seems to be some kind of nervous reaction. I've also heard "get rockets ready" every time I grabbed the sword and other oddly obvious things. What I HATE is someone else saying SHOOT NOW way too early or blabbering while I'm on my way to the rock. STFU people need to hear me call out rockets.. And when people start hating I just let them run the sword. They only try 2 or 3 times before they give it back.. I'm not that good with the sword, but at least I'm not scared of it, most people can't even say that lol.

    • I never have this problem when someone says something twice when I'm holding the sword I press y and jump off the back off them map tell our team to wipe so that the other guy can run sword as he clearly knows what to do works a charm and you don't hear the person talk all game either

Well, being experienced comes with a price. That being the fact that you'll know what to do and to expect.. It's a price because you'll know when people are off the deep end when it comes to raiding. So my advice isn't to worry about stats being viewable in game, it's to understand the flow of the game as it is happening with your teammates. Take control of the fireteam and lead them. Yeah at first you'll have someone who is (in their head anyways) usually lead, but you wait and listen. When things get harry you take charge. Use your experience as a positive tool, because if you are just complaining about them sucking and not guiding them you are just as much of a liability in the raid as they are. Yes it's annoying to hear people that "think" they know how to run sword but honestly it's best they are trying to stay in the zone with what's going on. Just assign them positions and jobs and make them focus on their one job. They won't "backseat sword" as you put it . They will understand what is expected of them and do their best. Your job as the experienced player is to adjust to everyone else. We adapt as players. Alright little brother, - Sin P.s: this is 2015, if you don't have a smart phone and can't check stats rapidly. That isn't bungies fault. They did a damn good job in most aspects if you look at the whole. It's a live game, meaning if they implement anything now it has the possibility to cause massive errors in everything else. #teamwork #captain-oh-captain #mlg-lol
