Weapon Balance and the latest foolishness. I mean patch.

"Re-balancing". Fancy way of saying "we made all these multiplayer maps so small there's no reason for anyone to bother with a rifle, so we're going to screw everyone that isn't a sniper rifle obsessed douche, by fu*king up whats working fine, so people go into the pigeon holes we want.". Fu*k you Whoever had this asinine idea. Fu*k you hard. Edit: For everyone that refuses to read the patch notes and thread before commenting and wants to just jump in 20 comments later and whine I dont include all the "facts" with each post here's 3 for general consumption. 1) What if I told you Melee and Supers make up 25% of the kills? 2) Auto Rifles account for nearly 2x as many kills as all other primary weapons... combined. And almost 4x as many as Hand Cannons. 3) Shotguns account for more kills than all Heavy Weapons combined. Tell me again how Hand cannons and fusion rifles are breaking things. Or, don't. NOT sounding like a fool is always allowed. :D

  • So glad someone took the time to show the facts about PVP. I don't get the hostility people have against handcannons when they are killed far more often by auto rifles. For some reason people take it personal and get really pissed when they're killed by a Thorn or Last Word. But this doesn't completely explain Bungie's actions... It's almost as if they're frustrated that we refuse to use the weapons they want us to use in the way they want us to use them.

    • The biggest mistake that they see ppl are not using pulse rifles due to low impact same with hrof auto rifles. Now as anyone would do instead of just fixing the issues x pulse rifles they decide to bring a b c d all other good weapons down to the lowest denominator. Stop hurting the pve player because of pvp tards everytime they re work weapons for pvp they become useless in pve please just stop the nerfs. #nerfthenerfs

      • I get what you're saying and u bring up some good points. Though it will suck, toning down my sniper/hand cannons reach, making me more interested in holding a shotgun for PVE while also making my useless pulse rifles/bad ass ones, more practical. I call it a step forward. Sorry for my run on sentences and crap, I type what's on my mind on the fly. I think the auto rifle additional nerf is because Suros alone as an auto rifle is beast and Bungie wants to... I have no idea why :p I just can't wait to see how worse Necro gets.

        • Im a little ok with this patch with the exception of primary weapon.... they should have ONLY mess with the pulse rifle. They are being set up for an even greater failure by doing as such because people will disapprove and have to re patch that weapon. It's already hard enough for them to know they probably have to patch the new exotics. As for the shotgun patch, im worry about the pve patch to them. Doubling the damage may not be enough to make them usable outside having fun with them on patrol. 2x or 3 of range may help them, maybe.

          • Honestly, the only things that were downed a little were the Damage falloff on Handcannons (Which barely matters, due to the high impact), and a whopping 2.5% reduction to Auto Rifle damage. It's not a huge nerf at all.

            • Just to clarify, since I keep having to re-re-re-explain: The problem isn't that this or that weapon is too powerful, or has too much range. The problem, is that the maps are small. So if you use a weapon that they designed to have a range x you can hit pretty much anything on that map. Now, x is reached by some hand cannons(IF you have the option to and utilize a perk) the non-bullet hose AR's, sniper scout and pulse rifles. This leads to nobody being able to really justify using pulse rifles or scout rifles. Not versatile enough, or lacking stopping power depending on which. It also leads to people that want to camp out with a sniper getting owned. Bungie wants to increase the variance of weapons one may encounter. That in and of itself is a good thing, fine. However, the proper way to do that isn't make entire classes of weapons less effective so people will bother to look at other classes. Put maps in playlists where they'll be tactically viable! Buffing a weapon or class of weapon that they've underdeveloped would be one thing. But to instead force everyone to adopt new weapons to achieve the same effects due to shortsighted map design is lazy game management that appeals to the worst of a player base and punishes the rest.

            • "Re-balancing". Fancy way of saying you won't be able to 2 shot kill with your Hand Cannon (1 shot w/ a Fusion Rifle) from Scout range. There's absolutely nothing wrong with map sizes either.

              • In fairness to OP that's exactly what they've done. There is no real niche for a mid range gun because Scouts are pretty effective at that range too, and auto rifles dominate at that range, so Bungie is trying to create one on maps that are too small to support that level of nuance anyway. What I don't understand about OP is why he's shit posting to everyone with a different view.

                  • Thorn SHOULD destroy guardians is PvP, that is what lore is all about. A gun hungering for guardians blood? Thorn isn't the easiest bounty. Completing it and ranking it SHOULD set you apart, in PvP...

                          Your post confused me, especially when I try to compare it to your replies in this thread, all I will say, is that, I agree with some things they are doing, but definitely not all, (they need to add some proper large maps, I have played maybe... 2 maps where a sniper rifle actually has a proper place that I have noticed, even so, the ridiculous glare mechanic (first multiplayer with glare sniper I've played) doesn't help. I think most of my frustrations with weapons in multiplayer is that there are no maps to truly compliment mid and long range weapons effectively.) My opinion on how weapons should be for range (primaries) is HROF Auto Rifle Hand Cannon LROF Auto Rifle Pulse Rifle Scout Rifle I think (even if others think its a crap idea) we need 1 sandbox arena/firing range, where players can get better feel and knowledge over their weapons, because so far, as far as weapon mechanics go, I think a lot of what bungie has right now, are not functioning properly compared to other weapon classes. (I need to try bad juju with its perk, make taking out a group of guardians less terrifying, even more so if they line up, that ammo perk ^^ since replenishes magazine with each kill with a damage boost in case anyone is wondering)

                            • Necrochasm is being nerfed while the VM is remaining untouched as one of the best weapons, and it already massively outclasses the DLC HM RARE DROP. The general consensus is that the Necrochasm and most high Rofs are very, very bad and for bungie to nerf them just because people like to play with them makes me very sad as an enthusiast of the game.

                              Shotguns in this game already have practically 0 range, they need more, not less. Shotguns in this game are more like an impact hammer than a real shotgun, in that to get the full damage you have to put the muzzle in contact with the target. Even the shortest ranged shotguns in reality have effective ranges of over 10ft, the longer ranged ones being effective out past 25-35ft.
