I feel the same way. I just want to play and not chat. I'm shy talking to random strangers and I can be offended easily. I don't have a thick skin as some others do since I'm playing online only since destiny came out. If it would have an offline mode, i'd probably be just playing with my brother and dad. And I also worry what other players would think about me and don't want to hear or see a post that'll say I'm a annoying person. And there's the safety security issue. For all you know you are playing with a convicted criminal, rapist, pedophile.
