Stop using guns to shoot ATHEON!!
Is it just me, or recently are all these christmas noobs posting on lfg as 30/31s and turning VoG HM into a shit fest.
I mean come on everyone. It is called a "SUPER". Your most powerful move. You ever wonder why your super charges so fast in the shield? Because bungie wanted you to use them. If everyone used their super. Atheon goes down IN 10 SECONDS. Ghorn is ok to use, if you are a defender. And if you have a double gernade perk. Use those first.
I swear these new guys. Thinking you need blackhammer. We did that shit for months with out it!
But I digress. Stop using your guns during times vengence. Supers only

Shoot a captain with a one sniper bullet. Does he die? No. Use one super on same captain. He dies. Why? Because the super is stronger. Now Time's Vengence multiples total damage out put. So why not multiple your strongest attack. You all just need to think about it and stop being so stupid.
Edit 4: Seriously everyone? Still don't believe me, well fine. Here, I recorded my fire team and I using supers only. Here the video. THIS IS PROOF IT WORKS.

Edit 5: Final edit. Everyone, accept it. This method is the best. All your icebreaker and blackhammer pale in comparison. SUPERS ARE THE BEST WAY TO KILL HIM.

With 5 ice breakers shooting him, it will be done in two rotations. Unless supers kill him in 1 rotation then ok, but I just watched a video of 6 people doing a no gun run VOG and obviously they used supers and ONLY supers to kill atheon. It took 7 rotations. So yeah

Just because it works doesn't mean it's not the most effective way to do it. What you're saying is like taking down Crotas shield with nothing but NLB. It can be done but that doesn't mean it's the most efficient way to do it.

Times vengance enhances weapon damage not damage done by supers. Use supers on suplicants/oracles. Shoot Atheon. How its always been done.

I rather use a weapon and get a 10-12k crit rather than a super with 1-2k damage. I think that way, the boss will die quicker? Also most grenades become redundant since Atheon moves out of the way from it. Also, even though the super recharges fast, its still faster to fire two sniper rounds or a powerful rocket at him, so you case becomes redundant. And BTW, it doesn't charge fast in the shield. It charges fast when all oracles are destroyed. Oh, and I'm not a "Christmas noob". I've played the game since beta and last I checked, I played over 1066 hours on the game. I've beaten VoG hard so many times, I lost count and 60% of the time, he dies after the first teleport with NOBODY using supers.

To the OP I would like to introduce you to two things called DPS and DOT. DPS:Damage Per Second DOT:Damage Over Time When preparing to fight a boss one must always consider what does the most damage this is true however one most also consider what does the most damage over all and not just in one shot. In the time it takes a Warlock to fire a nova bomb an experienced and accurate sniper can place all three shots of black hammer into Aetheon (I'm a Warlock I use blackhammer). Also Nova Bomb and Golden Gun are the only viable option when it comes to super against Aetheon as getting any closer than that would most likley result in some one having to risk reviving you or the team being down one player. Also to note grenades normally used for area denial actually hinder the preformance of the team when struck by these Aetheon moves this reduces the chances of consistant precision damage. Now if you find yourself reloading or out of ammo then yes by all means fire that super right at Aetheon. Hope this helps and as always May RNGesus roll ever in your favour.... [i]Deus[/i]

I get your logic but times vengeance does not affect suppers, try golden gun with and without times vengeance, you will see there is no difference

3 RepliesI'm a hunter. in the atheon fight, bladedancer is useless, so I stick to gunslinger. Because bungie's devs have no idea how to make hunter supers good in pve, I do more damage spamming icebreaker precision hits in the short period of time I'm able to attack atheon than I do with golden gun. So, no, I'll keep shooting him. Tyvm.

Guns are better then supers period. Only warlocks on voidwalker, and hunter on gunslinger can use supers unless u consider defenders bubble. Don't tell me otherwise mr troll. Forums are for helping people not confusing them.
