Wolfenstein, along with every other single-player only game, is measured on the merits of its story and experience.
Online multiplayer games, which are reliant on maintaining an audience, are measured by their ability to keep their audience engaged.
Destiny's notable for its hype, concept, middling critical reception, dedicated fanbase, Bungie's odd approach to fixing things, and its addictive structure.
That's why no one can stop talking about it. It's a fascinating gaming artifact, and inside of the game we got, it's relatively easy to see a much better game, yet folks keep grinding because he game's structure demands it to progress.
There are a lot of factors, so comparing an online, live game to a canned solo experience doesn't make much sense.

Then let's compare it to other online FPS games. How many online FPS games offer anything but standard TDM on the same 6 maps over and over and over? Destiny offers much more than that.

The difference being that the focus is on enjoying playing the game for the sake of playing the game. There are also tons of weapons, perks and visual customization options to unlock, but that's a bonus, not the point. With Destiny, getting those items became the point. And the only way to get those items, in the case of raid weapons and armor, is to literally do the same thing over and over. And saying those are all on the same map is a moot point. You asked for examples of online FPS with more than TDM, and I offered you Advanced Warfare, with a bunch of gametypes, and you focused on the fact that they all take place on the same maps, like every other FPS. I'm talking about new and interesting ways to approach the core mechanics of Destiny.
