Hey guys, shouting in from [url=https://www.bungie.net/en/Clan/Xbox/512080]Diablo Dragonz[/url] and really liking this thread.
It never hit me before, but with all these deliciously creepy descriptions... are we even sure we're playing as the good guys? I mean, as much as we're "defending the last city of light", why are we invading other worlds and killing anything that moves when they're leaving the tower COMPLETELY ALONE??? I don't know about you guys, but I don't remember seeing any defense systems posted on the tower. Does it have a big titan ward around it? I mean, how did they ever get the upper hand if we have friggin NOVA BOMBS and TITAN SMASHES. And who needs to worry about defense when you can self revive and camp out in a bubble??? (To all my hunters out there, I'm sorry, but I'm not convinced the Golden Gun with such limited bullets or turning invisible and trying to melee someone to death would have protected the planet quite as well.) Wouldn't that be a wonderfully evil plot twist to find out we're the bad guys at the end of all this. Guardians my -BLAM-.
Poor Atheon and Crota, waking up one day and saying, "Yo, who are all these little -BLAM-ers shooting up my house and all my children? And then they have the nerve to put on gear that makes them look exactly like us??? -BLAM- NO!" If you woke up to find rats in your house attacking your children, you'd try to kill them too!
Aw man, you see what you did with this thread man... I'll never be able to kill a thrall without a tear in my eye again.

There are defense turrets on the tower... And it's rare but the Warlock Vanguard Ikora Rey will say "The Fallen are trying to invade, prepare the defenses!" I'm not saying there isn't some underlying threat in the Tower but the Guardians aren't truly evil. Plus the Darkness invaded our Solar System after the Golden Age of peace the Traveler provided for us so once again we weren't the cause of this war between the Fallen, Cabal, Vex and others controlled by the Darkness.

Could Ikora Rey be using scare tactics??? Hmmm. Terrorists rarely ever consider themselves to be terrorists. They're always fighting for a "noble" cause.

Interesting. I tried reading the Grimoire Cards, but I kinda wish Bungie would just publish a chronological book. It'd be so much easier to follow. But it was not enough." Soooo, I dunno, does this support what you say? Or were they here in the days of the Traveler? Or did you read that they came after the traveler somewhere else? This story still confuses me the more I think about it, but I like using my imagination to fill in the gaps instead of reading the cards. Makes it more fun.

The people existed before, but the ghosts, which grant powers, only existed as the traveller went comatose.

I've been saying this for so long!! The black garden was originally supposed to be inside the traveller that's why the portal was on Mars and the traveller was found on Mars. but the idea was scrapped along with the rest of the game.

Actually I feel that we are the ones causing the destruction solar system wide. I don't believe a thing the speaker says, for all we know we are doing the bidding of a crazy man.We are like a plague ruining the galaxy, and killing everything in our path. And by the looks of how the traveler is blown to crap at the bottom, it looks like we were the ones trying to blow it up. I think it brought the darkness to us.

I'm pretty sure I read something about that's how the original story of Destiny was supposed to be before they changed it in the last minute. That the Speaker twisted the truth of what happened with the traveller and all that and we find out that he's really the evil one and we've been working for evil all this time etc.
