Nothing wrong with burning out this game after 5.5 months. I've played games for far less time and gotten burnt out. At least we can expect new content for this game sooner or later.

I think the notable thing for me is that usually, when I beat a game or lose interest, I stop playing. With Destiny, I was starting to lose interest, but I kept playing. Kept grinding. It used to be fun, but after the DLC released, it felt Sisyphean. But I kept playing. After beating Crota in week 1, and endlessly running Eris bounties, releveling exotics, and doing the urn bounties for all three characters, I couldn't do it anymore. This is the only game I've ever played that kept me playing after it stopped being fun, after it started feeling like work. And I think a lot of people are in the same boat as me.
