i am struggling on the 500 void points portion of the quest chain. I am not the greatest at pvp so I am guessing it will take me at least 8 to 10 more hours. I was up to 105 but now Down to 72. Just wondering if it's worth all of the trouble and frustration

It's a beast to own and a badge to wear. Many have given up on the Thorn because of its difficult and painful list of task. That's a lot of its value. But it does pay you back handsomely in pvp experience used in future matches from map knowledge to tactics. That being said, it also can play a big role in strikes and raids where tough bosses toting thick Regen shields are brought to their knees. I'm on my second Thorn bounty to place in the (soon to be capable) hands of my Titan.

yes it is very worth it but take your time with it. if you seem to lose a few point stop and continue later. TIPS: stay close to your team mates and let them take fire while you shoot to kill. best weapons to use are void shotguns and void machine guns. play control or 6vs6 only. (control is best). use killing special as much as possible to kill ton of enemies and then camp somewhere and let them come to you. Goodluck with it and goodluck with the final thorn task.

Without a doubt

Meggena81, it really comes down to whether or not you're willing to look at other areas to obtain weapons. Right now, at time of writing (pre-1.1.1 patch), Thorn remains an excellent PvE and PvP weapon, but is it really worth an exotic slot? In PvP, yes. The Damage over time and the fact that it's AT MOST a 3-shot fire and forget weapon means that it's earned itself quite a reputation. Is it the best exotic handcannon though? I don't think so, as both the Hawkmoon AND Last Word have the potential to kiss in faster times in PvP. In PvE however, I'm not too fussed. The impact is decent, the rate of fire is average and the damage over time isn't really that noticeable, or useful as you'll rare be relying on the poison to kill your enemies. There are several Legendary weapons that can deal the same damage per shot as Thorn (TFWPKY 1969 and Word of Crota come to mind), and also if you have Timur's Lash on hand, that handcannon deals the most damage per shot out of anything else. Sp ultimately, if you're willing to put the time into obtaining Thorn it's well worth it, but if you just want a really nice handcannon, it's also possible to look at some legendary handcannon and save your exotic slot for something else *cough* Haterhorn *cough* Hope this helps out! - Sasssi

Yes, yes it is. Just trust me on that, it is.

Wondering the same thing...

I'm not very good either but I watched a good vid on YouTube, basically the guy showed that by playing control with a void shot gun or fission riffle but literally just walking around not paying attention to getting the zones you just pick people off as they run to the zones, I used a fusion riffle and had it done in about 3 hours maybe slightly less I was amazed at the difference in my scoring

Oh yes..

I got myself a decent void shotgun and kept to confined spaces where you will kill in one shot. You should get 25-30 per game which will move up to 50 when you get used to the weapon and learn the tactics. Great gun tho is Thorn.

Edited by shipo: 2/10/2015 7:55:10 AMTotally, use a void fusion rifle and corrective measure if you have it. Camp around heavy ammo spawns n control zones. Don't be afraid to do a lot of hiding behind a box n occasionally popping out, don't run about like a headless chicken. :)

Edited by Trokia: 2/10/2015 7:50:22 AMIf you're using it for PvP it's worth it. There are better choices for PvE , but if you don't have them it's no slouch.

Thorn's bounty is a literal thorn in the ass but it's probably one of the most fun exotics even before they buffed it to make it workable. Make the decision yourself based on what you have at your disposal for the void part(Atheon's Epilogue is the more easily accessible primary that can use void), but it's definitely something you won't regret if you actually get the gun. On a side note, though, you will likely get burned out on Crucible for a bit. It's a lot more rage-inducing when every death hinders you; really makes you realize how much bullshit you let slip by you as normal in Crucible on a regular basis.

Yup, good for pve and pvp

Edited by Diamond D Nice: 2/10/2015 7:36:11 AMvoid fusion, void heavy machine gun and camp the heavy ammo. Also use a void grenade and hurl it at flags when people are capturing cause assists count and the you can get lots of void assists with the grenade. Also don't rush. hang back, dieing slows your progress so best to trap people into coming into a a choke point where you have the advantage, espcially if you're holding an heavy machine gun. I abandoned this bounty early in Destiny, then redid it with this strategy and got it done in about 8 - 10 games. And that was with a few games where i was crap.

It's a PvP god weapon

Yup! PvP!!!

Without doubt

Guaranteed to send them to the forums crying

If you like hand cannons then this gun could possibly be your favorite hand cannon. It's good.
