Extremely low on sapphire wire :(

Im a lv29 hunter and ive come across a problem. What is the best way to obtain sapphire wire? every time i dismantle an uncommon it only gives me 1 and every rare it only gves me 3 or 4. after 1 or 2 defense upgrades, i run out extremely fast. is there a way to get tons of rare hunter armor or sapphire wire?

  • I have had the same problem, and chest farming on old russia where the devils lair starts is the best place to get it

  • Yep roc strikes. Also if you have bounties to spare, equip the crap gear when you turn them in. You get more wire the more upgrades are unlocked

  • Do you have another character? A main one? If so vault every blue engram they get for your hunter to decrypt. Run roc strikes, and chest farm

  • The secret that no one seems to know is if u level up uncommon gear (preferably by turning in one bounty) then u get 2 armor materials instead of 1. You dont have to spend the glimmer on the upgrades, you just have to put experience into it. This doesnt work with uncommon boots btw. So if u really need it bad and fast, then do this: glimmer farm, then buy uncommon armor from your class rep, then equip it all, turn in one bounty, then switch your gear, then turn in one bounty, rinse and repeat. 1 more material might sound like not much, but if u turn in 10 bounties and your swapping 3 pieces of uncommon armor each time, you should have around 60 pieces of class specific armor materials.

    • Yeah it gets annoying because you cannot buy them. I really think there should be a material exchange.

    • I can smell the wrapping paper from here.... The easiest way for me was to progress through Destiny overall. I never got too short, and it was easy to obtain by just dismantling old gear.

    • Sapphire wire, weapon parts, glimmer, glimmer boost consumables, and gear of blue or lower quality are all best farmed running ROC strikes.

    • Do the Roc playlist. You'll get a lot of them in a notime.

    • Best way to do this is grind the ROC Strike Playlist. You should see more blue engrams and gear drop. Also if you can, level the blue gear up through bounties before breaking them down. You can get up to 5 wire if they're maxed.

    • Haven't checked, but I'm guessing that Hunter is not your first character, right? These materials are harder to come by when characters are power-leveled with sweet legendaries just waiting for them when they reach 20. I know I had that problem with my Hunter a while back and I expect the same with my new Warlock. Best advice? A few people said it already: Vanguard Roc strikes playlist. Tons of blue, the occasional purple, the vain hope of an exotic... Plus you'll end up boosting your Vanguard rep AND earn a truckload of Vanguard marks. Good luck!

    • Run your vanguard strikes a lot. You always come across green armor you don't need. I just scrap it.

      • I'm glad I put in the time early on to accumulate literally thousands of sapphire wire. Now I don't have to walk around the tower blowing every other Hunter I see for some wire. My recommendation: buy some knee pads and bring a toothbrush, you're gonna need them.

      • I just run the roc playlist for blue engrams. Not only do you get those materials but you have a chance to get ships, legendary engrams, exotics, and you can work on leveling guns/armor up if needed.
