DMZ potential solution if you have a strict NAT?

I have done a quick search and didnt find anything that was obviously along these lines sooo- Opening up Destiny today I got a message saying I had a strict NAT, had a quick look in my modem settings and quickly decided I couldnt be bothered playing around with the NAT stuff. Setting a DMZ for it is WAY easier. So, I have done this. Anyone know if this is going to simply not change anything, help, or make it worse? Not sure what will trigger the message about my DMZ, so going to reset modem/playstation, log in and test. Will post results and anything that seems to happen, although, I have not been having any significant problems and probably wont notice small performance issues.

  • Note, PS3 needs to have a static IP set (You should be able to fix the IP to PS3 with modem which also works) and DMZ needs to be for that IP address

  • And no message about my NAT when I start the game either.

  • I had to do this for my first ps4 due to warframe being a pita. Worked out great and works good with Destiny.

  • Ok, so the PS3 connection test has reported NAT type 2, rather than strict/3, hopefully a good sign. Spoke to this dude I used to work with at an ISP, he thinks this should be an adequate workaround
