I'm very conflicted.

I'm been playing the WoW free to play starter edition and I have been putting a lot of thought into upgrading to the full edition. The game itself is fun and addicting and a nice distraction from my boring old game rotation. Now here is the problem, I'm in college and I need to focus on school and money is difficult to get sometimes. Any thoughts or advice or should I just forget about it?

    • Give Blood :-) Good way to make extra $ Forget WoW. Get into Map Building on REACH. You'll feel a sense of Accomplishment when ure done with ure Masterpiece. Make it playable for all GT's. That'll take a little more time. On average I can spend 2 days making a good map. I will leave it for a day or two and come back..take a long hard look at it..Do some final updates and ship it to fileshare for frends to use :-)

      • Eh... You shouldn't really invest into an MMO that you have to pay a subscription for at all in that stage of your life tbh. You could save that money up for something better.

Forget it. World of Warcraft is too expensive and time-consuming for college students. It'll just get in the way of studies and there's an addiction risk as it is designed to be addictive in order to force people to buy it by stimulating rewards by grinding. If you get addicted and start to pour your money into it then you might not end up getting enough time to yourself in order to study. For example like in the Big Bang Theory which was an over exaggeration but you do get the point. Moreover, MMOs suck and are vastly overrated. I hate all types of RPG, stealth, strategy, RTS, puzzle and simulation games.

              • World of Warcraft is an amazing game, truly one I the best this is or ever will be. Part of the reason it is so good is the scope of it, with tens of thousands of hours of gaming available to all. However, as a student with a fixed income it may be wise to avoid it, it can and has devoured a lot of time and can be addictive if you have that sort of personality. At the end of the day it comes down to whether or not you have self control whilst playing it.

                • All MMO's share the same things: You become an addict for quite some time (normally a couple of years) until you experience just about everything the game has to offer. You then enter into a permanent phase where you play for 1 month, then quit for 2-3 months, and repeat. My advice is to avoid the addiction so you save yourself time and money.

I was fairly addicted for about two years, my father actually plays quiet a bit and he tries to get me back into it every once in awhile. I'll usually play about a month or two than I lose interest, not saying that you will, but it's lost something for me that once captivated me.
