Reasonable Discussion About - Quick Time Events

Want to get away from the constant barrage about consoles? Come in here and let's have a proper discussion about games! What do you think about Quick Time Events (QTEs)? While I don't possess the same hatred for them you see with many people, I really am not a big fan. I appreciate that the developers are trying to immerse us more into the game but I prefer to sit back and enjoy my cutscenes. Alternatively the half life approach where you never lose control of your character during a cutscene is great too.

  • I don't particularly hate them, but I don't particularly like them either

They're fine, an example of good QTE would be Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 3, and a bad one... would be Sonic Unleashed's final boss. go to 4 min to see.

  • Quick time events are good as long as they are done right, such as in the video above.

  • Started disliking them at Halo 4 (Spoiler) since to me it ruined the ending and do prefer cutscenes or just an actual boss fight like in halo 2, I myself don't mind them when i get them, but it would be nice without them.

  • I don't mind them as long as they don't take up the majority of any fight/scene. For example, I thought they were fine in Tomb Raider.

  • If you cannot implement them well then don't do them at all. Or at least that's the way I see it. I like the choice factor you can have, instead of preventing it just let it happen and see the chaos that unfolds. Sometimes it wont get you killed/make you fail the mission and you can continue with the choices you made.
