total annihilation is in my opinion, yes better than Starcraft.

AOEIII. Damn I love that time period and colleseum customs are hilarious.

Age of Mythology was a pretty solid one.

Edited by asdasdasdasdasdf: 4/7/2013 4:28:40 PMNo love for Empire At War? I've spent a bloody long time on that game, still got the box and everything, Forces of Corruption was good but I still love the original. As for it being the best I accept that it's probably not, but I played it so much when I was a bit younger ( and I still do ) that it's pretty much a part of me, same with KoTOR/2, Battlefront, Republic Commando, Lego Star wars, and many more but I think you get the message.

Halo Wars

I loved the original Red Alert and Dawn of War (the first one, not the second).

Command and Conquer And I trust their judgement. I personally have played Command and Conquer, Warcraft II/III/Frozen Throne and through all of Starcraft so far. Starcraft is my personal favorite and has been a cultural change throughout of the world even with the competitive scene for the sheer success of it. It definitely has a larger consistant audience than any RTS game (reading it has 750,000 UU logins for over two years after launch daily), that's impressive.

1 ReplyThe lack of Battle for Middle Earth 2 in this thread is greatly disappointing.

AoE II I also really enjoyed World in Conflict.

5 RepliesEdited by DeadlyParasite: 4/6/2013 9:29:21 PMNot a popular opinion but Rise of Nations was probably my favourite. I just wish they'd release it on steam...

1 ReplyMost would say Starcraft, and maybe that is so. But I grew up playing Command and Conquer and Red Alert and I've seen the Tiberium wars end to end. TO me, that franchise is the best.
-
Myth, StarCraft, CoH, and Shogun 2 are my favorite.
-
I'd probably have to say Company of Heroes. Although Age of Empires and Halo Wars stand out as personal favorites.

Halo Wars.
-
Company of Heroes obviously

2 RepliesSince yesterday I've played 9 hours of AOEII:HD and loved every second.

This may very well be nostalgia but I'll say Age of Empires II. Close contender: Warcraft III. Honorable mentions: Empire Earth Company of Heroes Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War series
