How do you feel about same-sex marriage?

Do you support equal marriage rights and legal benefits? Call it something other than marriage? Against it entirely? Discuss. Explain your position.

  • I have absolutely no concern with stupid government government benefits that have nothing to do with me. I'm against it for religious reasons, so I really don't care as long as churches don't have to acknowledge gay marriages. *Hate me

  • No freedom til we're equal, damn right I support. Gays are people They should get to be with the person the love. Don't deny people rights because they're different.

  • I see no reason to not let people of the same sex get married. If they love each other, let it be. It's none of my business or anyone else's to try and not let them.

  • I'm disgusted by it honestly. I believe marriage should only be between a man and a women, period. But that's just my belief. If a law ever passes that legalizes it, I won't mind since it won't effect me.

  • Love is love. Anyone who thinks a couple that loves each other can't be married, is just an ass.

    • How do I feel about marriage? Marriage is marriage... and the government should but the -blam!- out of it.

    • for it. for gay MARRIAGE. i dislike the term 'civil partnership'. i prefer 'legal marriage' (as opposed to a religious marriage)

    • I'm against it. Civil partnerships are better than same-sex marriage. But I had a big discussion explaining why I felt this yesterday, and I can't be bothered to go into it all again today.

    • I'm not completely educated on the matter. But we are currently trying implement it in the UK. My feelings on it are that civil partnerships are enough and that the government really shouldn't try to change marriage. Especially since religion isn't the most accepting of people who like the same sex

      • I have no strong feelings, one way or the other. If the couples are happy to be together, that's their business if they want to get married or not. Not ours opinion to quickly judge that.

      • The people who oppose it are so far disconnected from society, it's not even funny -- they're not even worth listening to.

Marriage usually involves a contract, so it's possible to consider a legal action with someone. Since it's a legal contract, there shouldn't be any law that forbids same-sex marriage. I'm honestly surprised that people decided to make that against the law. It really wasn't illegal until very recently (for my state, at least)
All marriages should be civil unions at the government's interest level, and marriage should be defined by religions, who should really work to be inclusive, but on their own terms.
• I don't think the government should be in the business of issuing "marriage licenses" because the only real issue here is the word marriage. If we just made it so the government issued a license with a different name for everyone most religious people would go along with it.(I've actually asked quite a few I know and only one objected). A straight religious couple can still have their marriage ceremony in a church and same-sex couples can have equal rights. Problem solved, move on to bigger issues.

        • It should be allowed. It doesn't harm others in any way as far as teh puma is concerned. This topic also hits close to home for him since his Uncle was in a same-sex marriage.
