The Winnower: Destiny’s Devil
The Winnower is starting to shape up to be one of the most interesting and creepy characters imo. As the entity says, it’s not some cackling mastermind, it simply operates on the idea of survival of the fittest, the very essence of the Sword-Logic itself. By that MO, I’m pretty sure that it hated The Witness’s idea of the Final Shape, where all existence is calcified, paused, with no opportunities to evolve or struggle. From The Winnower’s perspective, it would’ve been a boring existence. However, it’s taking great interest in us, calling us our friend, telling us to impose our will on the universe. It wants us to see things from its perspective, and, like a Devil, it’s tempting us to give into that perspective. That, and the fact that it’s so nonchalant and friendly, is what creeps me out about this character. It’s what makes it so sinister. Oryx, The Witness, and Nezarec are great! But, The Winnower is on a different level entirely, and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for that character in the future.

You guys are out here discussing about Winnower, and after years playing this game, my brain is literally just crosshair placement and radar pinging. Props to the lore people though, I actually love that you guys read all this stuff while I’m just out here missing my shots. My entire story knowledge after all these years: - Shaxx: Screams at me. - Zavala: Thinks he’s Chuck Norris and tries to win the Traveler in a staring contest. - Cayde-6: Cool guy, RIP. - Mara Sov: Apparently there’s like ten thousand copies of her? - Saint-14 & Osiris: Just two wholesome old grandpas living their best life in love while the universe collapses. - Ghaul: Fat turtle who stole my vault - Savathun: Moth lady, kind of annoying. - The plot: Shoot aliens -> something something -> kill bad guy - drink beer So who is this Winnower guy? Is he the invis Hunter crouch-camping a corner with Rose? Does he drop a good Igneous Hammer? 'Cause if I can’t fight him in Crucible, I’m completely lost. Keep the lore posts coming though, it's nice reading these while sitting in Orbit trying to find a comp game. Time to jump back in, play like absolute garbage, and wonder why I’ve spent 4,000 hours suffering in Destiny 2 p2p PvP. Seriously, please help me, I need therapy.
