Do we continue to play Destiny 2 in its current state that it is right now?
Do we get any sort of in game update to keep player numbers up until then?
If not then my question is how are they going to keep the community alive with the game in the current state that it’s in right now till 2028?
Thanks!
(Also have to state this because people are so butt hurt about this post. No I’m not whining? No I’m not complaining? In fact this post has nothing to do with me Im literally just asking what people think and what their thoughts are now that we have information again… thanks!)

2 RepliesTake a deep breath (literally) and be patient. If all works out well, there will be some sort of new content as early as 2027. And if everything goes as planned, Festival of the Lost and The Dawning will be back again. Those who did this—the executives, sunsetting, and the Destiny Content Vault—are gone; there's a whole new lead, and they are trying to make things right. Even if it's all on hold, Destiny 2 feels better than ever for the first time in a long time. I am playing something different right now—but I am really looking forward to seeing some of my favourite strikes and locations again.

You bow out and play other games like I am ! Too many people rely on d2 ….they live by d2 ….not healthy . I broke my d2 curse 🤷🏼♂️

I’ll play on with D2. Might take a break for LoZ:OoT at Christmas. I have Seals and Triumphs to do. Plenty of dungeons and raids to attempt flawless or solo or both. Three manning some of the easier raids that don’t require skating. Just chilling and hanging with friends or new people I have met.

7 RepliesThe Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time. Duskbloods. Persona 4 Revival. Final Fantasy 7. Xenoblade Genesis. Kingdom Hearts 4. I don't know. My time is going to be well occupied in the meantime.

Ima jump onto the other D2, new content dropping 3r November.

Edited by Uncle Fester: 10/30/2026 11:48:06 PMThey have promised nothing unvaulted till early 2028. They did say there were looking at stuff for next year, but it most likely will not be any unvaulted content. Who knows what it will be or if it will be worth playing for 8 or 9 months. Personally, rather than promising all the stuff being unvaulted at once I would have looked at a staggered approach, one raid or dungeon first to work through the process. Not talk about it, release it quickly and then promise more in chunks over the next 2 years. A raid, dungeon, campaign or destination every quarter it might take 3 years to get it all out there, who knows, but it would keep player interest high. Rather than promise the whole thing, do smaller manageable bites until you have a solid grasp of how to tackle a larger piece like the whole red war campaign or a destination like mars. Facts is they can't decide how to communicate, to many options, not enough resources, bla, bla bla. Just post it all here, nothing special, keep it low budget and easy to find. If they can't decide how to communicate, how on earth are they going to decide what and when unvaulting occurs? What baffles my mind is that they still are not addressing WHY so many players left in the first place. If they don't fix why player left, exactly how many are going to stick around if they come back and try it again. It is NOT a given what they do will be a success or received well by the masses of players who walked away ! My 2 cents anyways

I just dabble with the game every now and then. I’m using this down time to exercise and catch up on tv shows.

Personally I'm probably playing more D2 at the moment than 6 months ago. So much I'm catching up on like seals, triumphs, armour sets, builds etc. When clan attendance allows running dungeons & raids i haven't finished off or farming them (it is very spotty at the mo & I don't like LFG as my personal experience of LFG is very poor) I've also taken the opportunity to play other games too. Some old, some new. It's been good so far.

Project Sunshine. It will be up and fully running before Bungo 😅.

Now is the time to get all your raid challenges/triumphs done and farm all your armour sets and get your builds sorted. Get in and get your dungeons done solo/flawlessly if you haven’t already. Not everyone’s cup of tea but it’s something to work towards. Play to earn bright dust so you can buy your exotics items via the bright engram exchange. Collect all the new catalysts and complete them. Aim to get guardian rank 11. You’ve got a long time to work towards it so why not? Buy all the items from the tenets and all 3 characters. The list goes on and on…

Reread the blog, they said they'll be doing some kind of celebration update between now and unvaulting (most likely sometime early next year).

2 RepliesIt’s getting the anthem treatment! Destiny 2.0 and they will make a few updates for people to read. After that marathon will die and then Destiny 2 will be cooked. They are going the way of Bioware 💯🫡

It's just going to be a bit slow for a while which should be expected by all parties involved... I myself am playing other games in-between... I have a backlog... It's not the end of the world... Breaks are healthy and can help reignite interest later... Destiny is not a personality type... Post...

Continue at your own risk. I'm a decent player, but because i have no help, solo in pvp, my stats don't look as good as those in a group. Mainly more deaths is the issue.

I'll probably log in daily to see if anything in EV is worth some of my 150k bright dust and maybe keep doing the weekly rewards path. As to other games, No Mans Sky is where I will probably be for the rest of the time as I played it 10 years ago and bought it again after seeing it's a completely different and very immersive and varied experience now. Forza 6 is on my list when it arrives on PS next year but as to GTA6......nah don't think so even though I enjoyed the previous games this one just does not excite.

4 RepliesEdited by BOOMBOXCOLLOSUSS: 10/30/2026 6:40:28 PMThis entire community would do well to start thinking long term and maybe even CRITICALLY again. Your short term "fix" is not the goal here. Maybe actually DO SOMETHING the next 14 months like reach back and help other guardians. Do sherpa runs if your just SO DARN GOOD. Destiny was literally JUST SAVED and so many chronic complainers are straight back at it again. I have a cat like that, no matter what you do it's still the same old schtickt.

1 ReplyYou do know you can play other games right....

Listen to the gta 6 trailer theme song?

9 RepliesSupposedly they're planning something over the course of next year to tide us over until the unvaulting. I'm not getting my hopes up though.
