So we have to wait until 2028???
For content, we already played...

5 RepliesI swear some of yall will never be happy no matter what Bungie does. The game comes back from the dead and you’re upset about how long it’ll take to unvault content? The game could’ve just been left for dead; with content people paid for never seeing the light of day again. Sure it sucks we’ll have to wait that long, but be glad it’s even coming back at all.
-
7 RepliesA bit of a wait, but that’s to be expected. I’m just stoked Destiny ain’t dead. I hope the install size gets to like 300GB. I want everything back. That being said, I’m willing to wait. I’ve got a bunch of games on backlog to play, and my clan is still fairly active, so crucible and end game is always on the table. 2028 will be here before you know it.
-
Breaking news: you don't have to wait for anything.
-
7 RepliesThey have like the janitor and the hamster working on this, of course it’s gonna take a while.

7 RepliesThe future isn’t bright….

6 RepliesEdited by BOOMBOXCOLLOSUSS: 10/30/2026 6:33:15 PMSo let's get this straight. The game is quite LITERALLY saved now and yet SOMEHOW the same culprits in this community instantly go back to folding their arms and poo pooing like children again. Un.Be.Lieveable. 14 months to do ALL THAT is no small feat. This community has become so spoiled and whiney that they can't appreciate much of anything. Maybe go play something else for awhile or, dare I say, reach back and take the next year to help newcomers. Make THAT your mission to create a better game than cracking your imaginary whip and being a critical LUMP. If your doing nothing to make the game better, then actually DO SOMETHING about it now. Being positive takes effort though, so your problem may just be mental laziness that makes you seek short term attention by being angry. It's quite see through, superfluous and unhelpful.

2 RepliesWhat did you expect from Bungie and Sony? They are the reason the game went into decline then finally shut down. They are both incompetent and it is a shame this game is in their hands. I’m not buying anything from either of them.

2 RepliesYou can always play Marathon…

I don't know what I just read... I gave it to AI and it told me it doesn't know either but we discussed it and we came to a conclusion: That was the longest excuse for taking a vacation until February of next year we have ever seen. -
4 RepliesThey laid everyone off. The “right people” they have left are still trying to perform necromancy on marathon for some reason. Meanwhile two guys in a basement somewhere (at project sunrise?) have un vaulted all the content in their spare time and made Bungie look like fools. And they fixed melee whiffing while they were at it 😂
-
6 RepliesFigured it would take time but 2028 seems a bit much.
-
1 ReplyThey deleted everything with sunsetting, so they have to remake everything essentially. They probably have some basic assets, but they then need to make the rest, and "upgrade" everything.
-
3 RepliesDon't worry all of Eververse will be unvauled soon enough.
-
2 RepliesThey have to rebuild everything they want to unvault. "The Beyond Light expansion for Destiny 2 released with a large engine upgrade behind the scenes. This upgrade was mostly invisible to players, but it was incompatible with all of our existing Destiny 2 activity content. This meant that any content we weren’t planning to sunset needed to be rebuilt manually." This is from MAX NICHOLS' PORTFOLIO

6 RepliesThere is zero chance more than 5k people are still around by 2028. That's beyond unrealistic lol.
-
4 RepliesHalf as many developers. Everyone who had Destiny knowledge got let go (pretty much). Their focus is making marathon work. I’m happy they are being clear with their message. You don’t have to play this game until 2028. But you can leave knowing you will have reasons to return.
-
1 ReplyI don't mind the wait. This slow period that we are in has allowed me to catch up on triumphs and other goals. I also have activities other than gaming that I want to pursue in 2027. Time away from D2 will enable me to pursue them. Some of the old content to be restored was developed by 2 other studios when Bungie was engaged with Activision. Now a much smaller team at Bungie has to unvault the content and adapt it for the current environment. They have a lot of work ahead.
-
1 ReplyEh I’m fine with that

1 ReplyEdited by Andy: 10/30/2026 12:45:04 PMIt's not really clear from the wording. It says full production to take 12 months from Feb 2027 but does that mean it's 12 months before we see anything or that it will take 12 months for everything to come out over that period.
-
1 ReplyNo you read that correctly. Early 2028, baring any unforeseen complications, and there will be some. I would say second quarter 2028 is most likely. For the community I think that is unrealistic. Player will not wait more than a year, possibly year and a half for unvaulting. My suggestion start with the newest or oldest and get one vaulted thing worked out and released sooner! They still have not addressed many of the issues that caused players to leave the game.
-
1 ReplyWell considering they would have to probably recreate everything.. rehire some VA’s and who knows probably redesign a lot of stuff Hell who knows maybe they increase the look of all the old content with some of the systems they have been using I’m just speculating but I’m going to give them benefit of doubt.. only a little but enough to give them a chance

1 ReplyFor the last decade, upcoming content was in a development pipeline. Every major release has had a relative timeline that looks like this. But you never noticed because you were on the receiving end of that pipeline. You got to experience a new season every 3 months and a new expansion every 12-15 months. When in reality all of those things took way longer to make. When EOS was announced, their pipeline was closed and everything in it got canceled. This is them filling it back up.

Did I miss something?
Probably this part:
In June, we secured our initial greenlight to begin scoping the work, validating we could do it and finding a partner to help us make it real. In September, we validated our assumptions and then raced to tell you all. Right now, we are in our pre-production, proof-of-work stage where we will ensure the process is working and hitting our quality bar as we port the legacy content.
1 ReplyIf they were smart - and let's be honest: if they were they wouldn't be in this predicament - they would keep people's interest by running last year's Dawning, Solstice, etc. events and putting the Light and Dark Saga's epilogue episodes back in the game. Also they didn't elaborate on whether the timeline was for the first part of the unvaulting (Red War?) or if they are planning to drop everything at once with the latter being a mistake imo because releasing in chapters as they finished them would be quicker and keep player engagment while they worked on the next part. We'll see how this plays out though.

1 ReplyI had thought maybe 6-9 months. But the best part of a year and a half to return old content ? 😬
-
4 RepliesThe big question is will Sony wait that long.
