Well, Bungie, we seem to be at a crossroads. You seem to have realized that how things have been run regarding Destiny has not been wise, and you've angered a LOT of players. What was the peak population? Somewhere above 15 million unique player accounts at one time? Now you've got about 800k, and maybe half as many actually log in with any frequency. Should certainly be a wake-up call for anyone.
Now you say you want to make amends, and rebuild trust. To this end you have announced an effort to "unvault" everything in the Destiny Content Vault.
To my understanding this means the Red War campaign, the Curse of Osiris campaign, the Warmind campaign, and the Forsaken campaign, as well as the related strikes, dungeons, and raids.
Which leaves the question, what about the associated activities like The Menagerie, the Infinite Forest, the Sundial, etc.?
But that's not the only thing that has been "taken" from us.
Now that the FOMO countdown clock is finally gone I've finally been able to work my way through the Expansion campaigns, e.g. Shadowkeep, Beyond Light, etc. But there's a problem: quite often I have no clue what's going on because the story references events I've never encountered. Sure, part of it is I went out of order to focus on the campaigns that came with new subclasses (Beyond Light, Lightfall, Final Shape) but a bigger part of it is that there are major story beats that simply aren't there.
Why?
Because they were part of SEASONAL campaigns. The Almighty. Eido. Caitl. Sagira's death. Osiris being replaced by Savathun. What the heck was The HELM? Why was there a Fallen District in the Last City and where did it go? I vaguely recall something about fishing? And potions? And is there ANYTHING that still drops "red border" weapons for crafting? How does that even work? All of that was part of SEASONAL content that nobody, even those who were playing at the time, can go back to.
Are we getting THOSE stories "unvaulted?" Or do we have to rely yet again on "the community" to fill in the gaps?
That, to me, is a necessary element in "rebuilding trust." No more temporary content. No more gaps. No more "FOMO" bullcrap. "Giving the players back what's theirs" has to include EVERYTHING. Every campaign, every story beat, every activity, every feature, every last kilobyte.
But "taking what's ours" isn't the only way our trust has been lost, Before you "vaulted" it you took the first $100 worth of content we paid for and made it "free to play," telling us that being "first boots on the ground" just meant being the dumb saps who got fleeced for something you gave away free later WITHOUT all the bugs and bullcrap we had to slog through because you hadn't sorted your own gameplan out yet (armor with no perks, weapons with no random rolls, only two options per subclass, etc.).
You've promised us content would be "included" in our purchases, like dungeons, only to turn around and say "oh, by the way, you need to spend MORE money buying KEYS if you want to access this content."
And then after we've paid out all that money we have to spend dozens upon dozens of hours on mind-numbingly repetitive and tedious grinding hoping that "RNGeesus" actually drops anything worth half a damn. I spent two years in D1 chasing the Vex Mythoclast from the Vault of Glass and it was worthless by the time it finally dropped because you nerfed the hell out of it.
You've wasted our time. You've swindled us. You've price-gouged us. You've bait-and-switched on us. You've outright LIED to us.
That's going to take a LOT more than "putting a few things back." That's going to take a LOT more than "we're under new management." What guarantee do we have that all of this won't happen all over again? If this isn't the end of Destiny how much is "the future of Destiny" going to cost us? How much are we going to miss out on in the future because of "seasonal" deadlines and other FOMO crap? And don't get me started on the obscene prices of Eververse all the way back to the beginning. Where's all that money going? Nowhere, near as we can tell.
You are selling a DIGITAL product. Yea, the initial game might be on a disc for those who chose to go that route, but everything else you've made is purely digital, which means your profit margin is determined far more by how many "units" you sell rather than how much you charge per unit. 100,000 sales at a dollar a piece is better than a hundred sales at $60 each. If you dropped the price of everything in the catalog from expansions all the way down to Eververse transmat effects 90% you'd make more profits than you are right now.
So what's the solution?
Damned if I know at this point, but a good start is across-the-board reduction in the cost of everything, from purchases to masterworking. Higher quality and quantity of drops (there's a reason why people were willing to cheat for massive loot and XP drops). And commitment to restoring ALL the lost content.

7 RepliesI would like more than just unvaulted content, they need to give us a full remake of D1 in the game and make it the new light experience and something veterans can enjoy. A complete destiny is the first real step to progress rather than the same old promises and same old failures. They have shown they can and have the capabilities to do what we want, it is a matter of will they do it or continue cutting corners?

1 ReplyYes, there is a lot of stuff from seasons that can't be restored because that would mean all seasonal quests, location, activities would have to be unvaulted and that would overwhelm everything. Not to mention that is small potatoes when you actually start thinking about WHY so many players left. That is the largest piece of the puzzle no one is talking about, why we all left! If that is not solved, unvaulting content will in no way shape or form solve the core issues. Players will log in, see nothing has really changed in how the game plays and log out again. I have no desire to replay the red war campaign with the current difficulty, for crap loot that will be worthless because it is not tier 5. DCV is not the major reason why players left and will not keep players who do return and see the game play is the same.

3 RepliesEdited by GradeMyGuardianTTV: 10/22/2026 2:02:29 PMThe most sensible thing IMO is to put Sundial, Menagarie, Salvage and Escalation Protocol into Arena Ops. The other sensible thing for them to remove the ties between The Black Armory and Arena Ops, and instead give those activities their respective loot. Put the patterns for the Season of the Haunted into Nightmare Containment. Patterns for Plunder into Ketchcrash. etc, etc. The Black Armory could move elsewhere. Plenty of opportunity and activities to associate it with. But I think that the lost seasonal content should be dispersed throughout Arena/Pinnacle Ops. We have alot of strikes that have recaptured some of those activities. And there's some in Arena Ops. It makes me wonder if the dev team simply ran out of time before shipping Monuments. It definitely seems incomplete (especially Arena Ops), and doesn't make sense Astral Alignment and Override made a comeback, but Salvage did not. The code for that is far newer and likely still existing within the game. Anyhow, I have high hopes that we'll see a few playlists grow as the content returns. Would be incredible to see a few of these hit before the end of January. Unlikely, but hey, that would earn some trust from the players.

1 ReplyMenagerie would be a nice return. Idk what the loot drops would be, that being said yeah some of the seasonal content would be nice to have back. I’m assuming they are gonna bring some of it back and with set bonuses as well. So it will be interesting to say the least

1 ReplyI hope that there’s some sort of 2-3 minute explanation of seasonal content between campaigns so that the narrative actually makes sense
