I encountered malicious cheating software.
Suddenly, the team encountered a player, and then I received an endless stream of golden equipment - probably over a hundred pieces at least. I immediately changed my character to stop receiving them.
This caused my game email to crash, so I had to delete them one by one. And I'm not sure if this will affect the security of my account!

Oh man, that would suck. I have good rolls on weapons sitting in the postmaster that I just haven't taken the time to try out yet, to see if I want to put them in my vault. And if your postmaster starts getting overfilled, doesn't it delete the older things in there first? I'd be p!ssed.

Report the person responsible. Beyond that don’t worry about it. It’s likely related to the issue below that Bungie have seemingly not managed to fully address. See the news ‘page’. Updated back-end code to address certain instances where cheat users could spam other players with unearned rewards and XP. Accounts leveraging these cheats in malicious ways are being actioned. Innocent players who were not actively seeking these cheats or their benefits will not be punished. If you experience players utilizing cheats, please review our Report Suspected Cheating and Poor Behavior article for info on how to report them.
