I dont remember when this happened but every since bungie stopped using the baked in lighting system Destiny 2 has looks so stale and ugly. There are so many examples of this in the game but I never really felt it all too much until I started playing pantheon. Prime example being the Argos boss room. If you played Destiny 2 during Curse of Osiris and engaged in the raid lairs they added you might remember that during the Argos boss fight each little island would have its own elemental theme to it. The Void side would be dark a have a purple glow to it. The ARC side would have a blue/white vex techno vibe. And the solar would have a warm orange glow with deep shadows around. But now every single location is just orange. Theres no soul to it. Its like at one point they cared enough to make the game feel emersive and alive. Now it just feels like no cares and just wanted to get it over with. Its so bad that more than once I had to double check which island I was on by looking at the cranium charging to see what element it was. When before id just know just by being there. I know the game is pretty much dead. But can we please get the old lighting back somehow when the vaulted content returns?

1 ReplyThe lighting does make certain areas look faded almost. I don't like it either. Not the quality it should be, and changing settings doesn't help. It's either too whited out, or too dark.
