Upon opening Destiny 2 with Dolby Atmos enabled, the game sound will pop and distort during the opening loading screens. If I press the guide button, the sound will stop working all together, even after closing Destiny 2. This forces me to change the audio output or restart the Xbox console.
If I try to play the game without pressing the guide button, the popping and distortion will still occurs throughout gameplay.
I've looked around online and found similar reports from a few months ago, to several years ago. And I was wondering if anyone had found a better solution or if Bungie were aware and would ever consider a fix.
It is a shame to have to use Dolby Digital or just stereo.

The only fixes I’ve found are workarounds and they are fragile: 1. Mute your receiver. Use a headset. 2. If you forget to mute and your speakers pop, pray there’s no damage to your receiver or speakers. Then, close Destiny 2, go to console settings, and set audio output to anything else, then back to Dolby Atmos. Go to 1. I am a longtime game developer. The issue is obviously with how Destiny 2 handles audio cuts on event handling; it’s supposed to reduce audio to zero ON A SLOPE, not a Cold Turkey cut from 100% to 0% in one frame. Destiny 2 didn’t always have this bug, and it is a bug, one all game devs face when they first start adding audio to their games. Total rookie mistake.
