New and returning players should be able to experience the entire saga—from waking up in the Cosmodrome in D1 to the latest expansions—seamlessly in one place.Dual-Map Interface (The Classic & Modern Directors): To prevent screen clutter, the game will feature two distinct map interfaces. Players can easily toggle between the original Destiny 1 Director and the Destiny 2 Director to choose their destination.The 9-Character Slot Solution & Inventory Independence:To accommodate this massive merge without forcing players to delete their hard-earned Guardians, we suggest expanding the character selection to a 9-character slot system, divided logically into three distinct categories (3+3+3):3x Legacy Slots (Destiny 1): Dedicated to importing or keeping original Destiny 1 characters, preserving their exact D1 weapons, armor, and nostalgic progression.3x Modern Slots (Destiny 2): Dedicated to carrying over current Destiny 2 character progress, Collections, Triumphs, Titles, and Vault items seamlessly via upgraded Cross-Save tech.3x Unified Slots (New Era): Brand new slots for players who want to start fresh and experience the entire combined timeline using the new engine.Isolated Inventories: There will be no item clutter or balance issues across eras. Your D1 characters keep what they had in D1, and your D2 characters retain their full D2 gear.Cross-Campaign Flexibility & Cinematic Storytelling:Play D1 Content with D2 Guardians: Players can take their fully-geared Destiny 2 characters and launch into Destiny 1 campaigns. Experiencing the original story with modern D2 builds would create the ultimate "New Game Plus" experience.Power Scaling for Balance: To prevent modern D2 weapons from breaking the classic D1 balance, a strict dynamic power cap (scaling) will be applied to D2 characters entering legacy campaigns, maintaining the original intended difficulty.Cinematic Bridge Between Eras: To bridge the 1-year lore gap between the games, entering D2 content from D1 will trigger a special cinematic showing the peaceful "Age of Triumph" celebrations and daily life in the Tower, followed by a "One Year Later" title card that seamlessly fades into the dramatic Red War opening sequence.While rebuilding assets and merging mechanics on an upgraded engine requires monumental development resources, this "Ultimate Destiny" platform would become the definitive sci-fi MMO for the next decade.
