While the news about destiny is great and I am STOKED for what is happening, please remember how many times Bungie has previously let us down. Before any of us “throw money at the screen” we would be well advised to wait and make sure that Bungie is actually going to follow through, actually give us solid content, actually LISTEN to all of the stuff we have been saying this whole time. There are so many examples, so many reports, so many REPEATED times they made poor choices or didn’t develop something because they couldn’t monetize it enough or because they needed to fund other projects that NONE of us should be preordering anything until they have proven they are actually doing things differently. Yes it’s a business, yes it needs to make money and be profitable, and yes they are free to make whatever decisions best benefit them. That doesn’t mean they get a pass to be greedy, abuse their developers, make bad decisions with no consequences or take advantage of their customers. Corporations. Are not. Our friends. They don’t automatically deserve our belief in them. I know this is a new management team, I know we all want better things for this franchise, and I know this has us all very excited for what is potentially happening…but don’t let excitement blind you. Behaviour is a language. Bungie’s, AND Sony’s behaviour has not been close to reliable for a while now. I hope most, if not all of us take the stance that they have a LOT of work to do to regain any kind of trust with this community. I urge you to politely hold them to account and wait to purchase anything until they have consistently demonstrated they’re willing to do things differently. If we just take whatever is offered then things will never actually improve. We should all demand better. Bungie, we want to love you, but you have a long road in front of you if you want us to believe you in the future.
