Styx II tells us three things we can actually trust: the civilization fought the Witness after its creation, other civilizations had already fallen before them, and they were the first enemy ever to drive the Witness back this badly. They pursued it into its own strange memory-realm and then, at the moment they could apparently finish it, offered peace and “another way.” The Witness exploited that mercy and destroyed them. Ishtar Collective What it doesn't tell us is whether this happened before or after Lubrae, Rhulk, the Ahslid, Nezarec, the Psions, Fundament, or the Hive. The Hive-throne-world comparison in the entry doesn't date the battle because the narrator is recounting it retrospectively.
