Your Funny Mistakes
Let's get lighthearted for a bit shall we? Post your funniest mistakes you ever made playing his game that looking back, made you laugh.
I'll go first, when I started playing was right around Lightfall, I wasn't that accustomed to how the different weapon types worked. I read that The Chaperone was a "long range slug..." so I figured that meant a long distance.
Imagine my surprise when I go into Kings Fall and do no damage to Oryx. Because I was using Chappy, my clan still gives me grief.
Also, if you reply to someone's story, keep it respectful, we are trying to have fun here.

Having a PvE build and forgetting to switch it when going to PvP So many times I’ve had bubble active, rush an enemy team thinking I have the void axes only to plop my bubble in the middle of yonder, and get 4x supered in the bubble.

Doing damage to a boss and shooting the Well of Radiance sword with a rocket…

Edited by Cryen-7: 7/20/2026 1:53:58 PMThere has been so many fails that I cant list them all here, but what Im constanly facing is that when I change builds that has totally different supers or guns, I sometimes try to use something i had and not have, this leads to using wrong kind of supers in wrong moments and stupid deaths in pvp, lol.

I cannot tell you the number of times especially in PvP where I spot enemies while I have my Nova Bomb ready and I jump up to launch it at them, only to realize i jumped to high in a hallway or inside a building and proceed to blast the ever-loving crap out of a wall and annihilate myself in the process with void energy.

recently was running ultimate conquest: op seraph, and caused a wipe in a bad spot after time invested. surprisingly the fireteam leader kept me onboard. i apologized via text chat and they said " no worries" and fired up another round. you know the ogre at the beginning that we all skip, well... i was trailing behind the group by a few seconds and got the aftermath of its ground slam. sadly had used my last jump just before so i ended up in the gutter and died. i was so embarrassed that i just left the fireteam. not so funny but looking back on it i chuckle in a hands on face kinda way!

3 RepliesWhen I started D1, back when it first came out, I thought any dropped engrams were free to anyone that got it first. So I died several needless deaths trying to get those engrams. It was a few months later I found out the truth.

3 RepliesToo many to remember…here’s a few howlers that were common enough… The ships jumping puzzle (D1) Rocket Launcher inside a bubble Oryx (D1) L / R turns on platforms Raids (D1) as ‘runner’ or ‘shield user’ Etc… I know ‘shield user’ isn’t the correct term, it’s the one in VoG that cleanses / shields the team! That is all. Carry On 🖖👻

In D1 during the beginning of the game you generated Orbs only from Supers and they were only for your teammates. I ran all over the place trying to find these Orbs of Light I kept making.

6 RepliesBy far not my worst, but my most recent (I’ll come back with others when I remember) Recently I was playing solar warlock with ignitions and healing grenade, helping some folks through master Derealize. Smooth sailing. Switched over to arc titan for some GM conquests and kept throwing my pulse grenade at my feet. Couldn’t break the habit lol

I deleted the original queen’s wrath items in D1. Still love how that rare warlock chest armor looked…

D1 I brought Red Death because it was better for PVP than a fancy Rocket Launcher.... I never got the hands of the fancy Rocket Launcher...

Edited by AlteraLateralus: 7/18/2026 12:22:31 PMI switched from playing 10+ years of Halo to Destiny 1 in 2014 and was not used to the controls. That resulted in me constantly falling off cliffs and Nova Bombing doorframes. I was top 1% for suicides in the Crucible for a while. Damn Twilight Gap...

Too many to remember tbh… Rocketing teammates Being too close to enemies after using 1k Too close after using dragons breath Getting booped off ledges by various enemies Getting launched across the map by bosses Screwing up my jump on simple platforming Jumping and catching some tiny piece of the environment that knocks me off the map Bumping into teammates mid air and down we go Tether right into a wall thinking “it’ll clear” I’m sure there’s TONS more but this is what I can think of at the moment

When the changed rifts to function while moving... And I would Tokyo drift straight off cliffs or straight into view of angry snipers... And with the animation change body a rocket over ducking them... Wish I would have kept some of the clips it was so awesome when it worked

1 ReplyMy first ever experience with a raid was the same day I came out of a procedure where I was put under anesthesia. I was very out of it, but wanted to check the bright dust store to see if it refreshed (it wasn’t even reset day). Funnily enough, I got a fireteam invite from my uncle, and I joined because I’m an idiot. Loaded right into the RoN boss fight having never even touched a raid before. That was my first time meeting my uncle’s raid buddies, and I’m still in that clan to this day. Needless to say, the raid went swimmingly. Cannot stress how out of it I was. I have videos of the nonsense I was saying that day. I don’t know how those people were willing to keep raiding with me after that. First impressions are one hell of a thing.

2 RepliesBack in the original Vault of Glass, I got GallaJhorn. Looked like a sh¡t rocket launcher and immediately deleted it. Told the group I was running with "Aww man Got this Bullsh¡t Rocket Launcher, trash deleted." The group instantly was like wait/ dont. Didn't realize I just trash one of the Best Rocket in the game. 🤣 Well I got GallaJhorn 2 weeks later anyway.

At the time, I had Astrocyte Verse equipped. Now, for anyone reading this that may not know, Astrocyte was recently updated with Dark Blink, and when you Dark Blink, it lets out Void Seekers that explode. I wasn’t even thinking about what exotic I was using because I wasn’t planning to do a raid, it was spontaneous. (Plus VoG isn’t that hard anyway) So me, and two other players of course, get teleported to Mars. As we were making our way down to the other side of the area to shoot oracles, I blink AND Dark Blink across. I just so happened to Dark Blink at the WORST moment possible because an Oracle spawned where the Seekers spawned so my Dark Blink destroyed the Oracle. The WRONG oracle. It happened so fast I didn’t realize it. So we wiped lol. I couldn’t help but laugh. Like, are you kidding me?

Have one profile on my Elite Controller with shift & different function buttons mapped to turn down screen brightness and things like that for when I'm watching TV. I've loaded into crucible a few times, still on that profile, wondering why I couldn't shoot or reload. Whoops!

3 RepliesOne time in d1 in a random group in vog I had to pee so bad it hurt, so I tried to run to the bathroom real quick but I forgot to mute the mic I was wearing. Halfway through the pee someone in the group was like "who is pissing?!?" They all roasted me and were laughing and I was embarrassed. Good times 😂
