New Destiny 2 + Battleye error

When booting up Destiny 2 from Steam and Windows store, me and some friends have been recieving the following set of issues ever since today's (7/14/26) reset, making us unable to launch the game. When you click on play, battleye pops up and it gives you the following messages: Starting Battleye service... Updating... Update failed (1,56). Please check your internet connection and/or firewall. Launching game... After this we receive an error window saying: Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropiate permissions to acess the item. Things to note: We have all tried to reinstall d2 multiple times in both windows store and steam. We have all recently been installing/uninstalling destiny 2 from platforms OTHER THAN STEAM due to the now known performance issues, so maybe theres some corrupted files there? We've tried verifying the game's files and restarting our computers and routers attatched links will redirect to a picture and closeup of the error codes. Please ignore the desktop wallpaper. EDIT: I have apparently managed to fixing it by going into my installed copy of destiny 2 on steam, browse files, and the 2 executables within the files (destiny2launcher.exe and destiny2.exe) right clicking into them, going into the properties windows and disabling the fullscreen optimizations that i had previously opted for given the framerate issues. Do not know if this fix is only temporary though but it is apparently a well known issue in other game such as valorant or league and there are plenty of guides on how to fix it.

 • Hello there, Thank you very much for reaching out to us. I'm sorry to hear that you are having trouble getting into the game due to BattlEye. While it sounds like this may be an issue with the particular folder you have the game installed in (we'd recommend reviewing permissions for the game and path), as this issue seems to be coming from BattlEye itself, we recommend going through their FAQ page. If you continue to have issues, please reach out to their support team for some additional assistance.
