Surely all the returning players saying it makes crucible a miserable experience like we’ve been saying ever since you added it 4 years ago has some weight right

1 ReplyWe live in different times now. I remember when we jumped in games and had to figure it out. Now games cater to crybabies. Inmo Destiny 2 played better EACH time SBMM was lifted. Back then, people complained more about certain weapons, not this BS LAG that everyone is currently experiencing. SBMM should be flushed to the devil.

My issue isn't my killing rate, my issue is my teammates being absolute potatoes about every game. Like it is forcing me into a loss.

8 RepliesEdited by Stari: 7/13/2026 11:05:07 AMSBMM should be one of the last filters. FIRST, the fairness of no one having a connection advantage should count, then after it the other filters like sbmm. But with Destiny's netcode and peer-to-peer it's mostly too difficult to create fair matches.

I don’t think you realize how awful 95% of the PvP population is after being coddled by Sbmm for years. Guardian games is one of the few examples of actual cbmm in destiny. I have more stimulation gunning dregs with devrim in the era than killing the kinderguardians in that mode

3 RepliesWrong! SBMM has only a few impacts: It can make times to get a match longer, but this is not an SBMM issue so much as it is a player count issue. More players are better, right? If Bungie had not reset SBMM levels every season, making players redo their placement series caused players of lower skill level to abandon PVP. It does make for fair matches and that is especially attractive to lower skilled players who have some interest in learning PVP. My personal experience was this: Started playing PVP when SBMM came out. Did my placement series, got my teeth kicked in. Eventually got moved to a bracket of equal skilled players and and went from a 0.2 KD to a 1.0 KD. I was actually getting kills and having fun. Then Bungie reset the skill bracket at season change and made me repeat my placement series, which in no way, shape of form was I gonna do. No way was I going back to playing sweats just to end up back where I already was. Bungie broke PVP just because players screamed about how bad SBMM hurt their precious KD ratios, affected their easy matches where they did not have to actually try. It was OK for them to make low skilled players have bad experiences, but the sweats should never have matches where they struggled. I was not going to be a part of that ever again and I have never set foot in PVP again. I WAS NOT ALONE! SBMM does not cause lag, or any connection issues, it does not promote toxic play, and it is good for players counts, if properly implemented and maintained. That is where Bungie went wrong, they pretended that every season the skill bracket had to be reset, thereby hurting player counts for low skilled players who are just learning the game mode. However when you are at very low players counts for all game modes, PVP will be even lower. So again, no amount of complaints can contradict what actually happened, which was a turn off for lower skilled players. No new low skilled players in game, fewer players learning the ropes, the maps and the load outs that work. Fewer players to get GUD and move up to your skill level. Fewer players in PVP and worse MM.

2 RepliesIt's like playing against nothing but I frost bolts and Grenadier Jakes. Clearly not everyone is this good? No way I'm this dog water. Everyone jumping in air from around corners with perfect aim and crazy in air physics. Getting out gunned through spaces the size of my p**!$ hole is crazy work.

Please remove SBMM and Crossplay from PvP! I've been playing the same people over and over again and their connection is horrible. Not to talk about of bad are console player's connection. If I play on Xbox all other platforms become inmune to damage due to latency. If I play on Steam the problem multiplies because there are way more other platforms.

1 ReplyI'm sure they'll get right on that.

2 RepliesI love how people keep saying this when bungie only keeps around "Sbmm" because of new player protection. The current sbmm is just matchmakes anyone with anyone it can find. The only time Sbmm activates is if your account is new. Trials actually has far more Sbmm than control because it also activates I believe after you go flawless. What you're asking for is for them to add some actual matchmaking requirements. Either actual sbmm or cbmm.
