unlinking a steam account that doesn't exist anymore
I am trying to relink my account with my newer steam but is requiring me to have to authenticate with that account, but it has been deleted since 2019, I am struggling to find any type of way and such, and i cannot create a new bungie account and link the xbox account with it and then the new steam account due to it having tot authenticate the deleted steam account in order to deactivate cross save, any help?

Hi there, Due to mandatory security policy, Bungie is not able to remove connected platform accounts from Bungie.net profiles under any circumstances. If your account has been lost, we are unable to assist you, and you will need to contact your platform's support for account recovery.

Simply put, you can't. Bungie disabled the ability to unlink accounts other than Twitch back in 2025 and they will not unlink it on your behalf. Even if the above change hadn't happened, you would have still needed access to the account to unlink it.
