Is it just me or could this update ,had it been implemented a few years ago...could it have drastically improved the player count and game, like its realy close to being perfect. Add like an in-game home feature were you can put the heads of your enemies on the trophy wall and maybe add some in-game trading and open up matchmaking for everything along with open mic lobbies in tower and on planwts...like game would be I nbeatable

1 ReplyNo. Although this update is good… It does not make up for all the neglect that is in the game. Ie PvP changes with these updates, hit or miss on it being liked… but no new maps makes it beyond stale. Not many new strikes that turn into GMs, that are a core of destiny, makes the game too repetitive. No innovation with gambit… why have it. They needed to go back to the d1 formula of game expanding dlcs over the seasonal approach. Of which could mean “droughts” of content… But it would lead to better production windows and less rushed content for seasons. Plus, I’m on steam and am now suffering performance issues and game crashes… So this “update” has put destiny in the worst shape the game has been in for many.

3 RepliesGame saving? When the final update dropped 9th June, peak concurrent players on steam was 167,000. A few weeks later, the 24 hour peak concurrent players had slumped to 87,236. Player numbers are only heading one way.

1 ReplyMany years ago, back in the days when Gladd played Destiny 2... Luke Smith replied that bungie doesnt listen to community feedback because game research data imforms bungie. They basically said that they know better then hundreds of thousands of players voicing the same issue. That was the red flag, and it continued downhill since then. Im always surprised that tweet isnt pointed out. Its the perfect example of thier attitude, until it was to late.
a few years ago...could it have drastically improved the player count and game,
No. As long as the main objective of the game is "look for people and watch a video/guide to learn choreography/mechanics" this game will flounder. They lost after d1 when d2 vanilla launched balanced for pvp; that made pve slow, then the forsaken "go fast" update was close to being "fun". Shadowkeep ruined that momentum with the"go slow" update that locked mtntop/recluse -the best pve weapons- behind a pvp activity. They wanted the game harder and "watchable" so Witchqueen/beyond light/lightfall were mid making "hard" campaigns, then final shape sucked all the fun out by making a class item that only works with the -new- subclass locked behind a mandatory 2man mission; with more choreography. Renegades could have launched before edge of fate and been more popular, but EoF should have been d3.

This was the next years content, dropped in 1 go

"Live service" "infinite revenue" Cost minimalized development diluted for retention to maximize recurrent spending... they want to stretch it out as far as they can for as little effort as possible that way the profit margins are higher and the work is lower... If you look at the gear we got in the way it matches previous setups as far as seasons and events are concerned separated by theme this is bits and pieces of four five maybe six seasons worth of stuff...

Thats part of the reason why people blame the decision. So many people spoke ok changes and issues and most of them weren’t resolved at the time.

The final update felt like alot of changes that should have been done years ago but you also need to remember that all these great changes and CoL improvements where originally going to be drip fed to us over the course of the next year.

And as great as it is, it would have done nothing to save the game.
