1. No video able to be recorded 2. https://pastebin.com/R85UqvWM 3. usually have my framerate capped at 80-100 and never have fps drops, since the Iron banner update everything I do in game including all activities, opening and transitioning between menus like inventory, directory and vault all now tank fps to >40 FPS. 4. experience it the most when playing +4 player activities such as Crucible, Gambit, Arena ops and Raids. 5. No specific changes or alterations have been made since post update yet still getting tanking to the fps in nearly everything now. 6. Ive tried updating my drivers, rolling back updates, updating and rolling back windows updates, tried lowering my graphics settings in game to the lowest with still no changes.

1. No video, as I'm unsure what is needed to be captured. 2. https://pastebin.com/PswU8hbc 3.Any type of content. Fireteam ops, Raids, Destination, Lost Sector, PvP, Tower, Gambit 4. N/A, as it occurs all the time in all activities no matter what in game settings the game is put on. 5. Load into an activity like patrol cosmodrome. Go to the daily lost sector. interact with the flag. FPS will now have been lowered by 30fps. This occurs when locking framerate to 3 frames under my monitor's hz (this case 144hz, so 141). Unlocked sees the same dip, but not always. 6. I've tried updating nvidia drivers, mobo drivers, windows updates, I've tested on highest settings, tested on lowest settings, tested on windowed mode and fullscreen. Issue still persists. I wish you could add back the exclusive fullscreen, as that had the game running better compared to borderless fullscreen that you changed it for..

I was hit with this steam client bug on 7/3/2026. DxDiag: https://pastebin.com/zMDyXgiE I was starting the third mission in the Oblation series and my whole system lagged out really bad for almost a minute and then recovered. After that I noticed, my gameplay was starting to get a bit choppy. Later that evening, after the mission, we went to the tower and I noticed my camera movement felt very hitchy and not smooth at all, almost like it was skipping 2/3 frames as I would pan my camera around. Jumped into an Iron Banner match and it was unplayable. Every engagement was a chopfest felt like it was dropping to sub 10 fps. Up to this point 2 days ago I had been playing the Steam version of the game totally fine, perfectly smooth, no frame rate issues. Unfortunately, I do not have any video to share. I spent the rest of the evening and early yesterday morning trying to find a solution. Updating video drivers, disabling overlays and all of the steam settings DMG recommended on Twitter. Uninstalling and reinstalling the game. Rebooting. And yes the pc is plugged in. Nothing worked. The only real solution I have found is, I uninstalled the Steam version of the game and installed it from the Xbox store, and that solved the problem. I'm back to solid 120 fps smooth as silk. Tried the Steam version again still laggy, Xbox still fine. The bad thing is I don't own any of the expansions on Xbox and Steam is unplayable for me, so I guess I'll have to drop another 60 bucks to buy it all again?

2 RepliesSo is this ever getting fixed or are Steam users just outta luck forever?

1.Share a video 1.1.Video - https://youtu.be/77MaWhIvETk 1.2.My in-game settings - https://imgur.com/a/svYYAnM 2.Share your DxDiag - https://pastebin.com/pn6HMWbC 3.Explain what type of content you're playing: everywhere but most notable in Crucible or situations with 6+ players around. 4. If you experience this worse when doing specific things or playing specific modes/maps: Crucible 6v6 matches, on smaller or medium maps where encounters vs other players are more often. Usually when moving and trying to perform something that changes my PoV - direction, swapping weapon or ADS. For example slide+ADS or mouse flick. Also when I spawn in after being killed (not to be confused by wait time, I'm talking about fps drop). Also during encounters vs other players - trying to do the same - change weapon or use ability. 5. Any Reproduction Steps: None that I'm aware of, but I need to clarify couple of things. Reduced CPU boost to 4.1 Ghz and GPU power limit to 90% and 79 C temperature limit since it's summer over here and I want to reduce the heat in my room. In general I am aware that my CPU is old and is most likely the bottleneck paired with the slow RAM. However I used to get between 80-100 fps in Crucible 6v6, now as you see in the video I can't hit even 90 and the frames drop to 50-60 or even 40 sometimes. Because for example I'm playing BO7 on the same machine and while I noticed some issues after the "reduce heat" tuning, overall the game is much more stable. My internal feeling is that the CPU can't handle situations where I meet players with equally big inventory and many exotics in it - why? Because on my second account where I have less items in my Vault and generally face players which also probably have less items, the frame rate seems a bit more stable. On top of that there are some abilities and gear, which probably further increase the strain over the CPU... or could be the other way around, I don't know. All I know is that the game felt more smooth before MoT update. One last note - when I tried to cap my frames to 60, the drops just began to feel like stuttering. 6. Any information or steps you performed that resolved this issue for you: None. Lowering my resolution from 1440p to 1080 didn't help - it just only increased my max FPS, but the low FPS is still there and overall the game doesn't feel smooth. Finally I realize how awful is the situation for you guys, so even you can't find a fix, know that I'm still grateful and D2 provided one of my best gaming moments overall.

My version of events Before the issues happened, Stable 85 - 120 FPS since this game tends to be chaotic DXDiag: https://pastebin.com/KrJQYZWS Since the update (the iron banner patch) - Anywhere i go my game tend to tank up for 45 FPS when things get chaotic, giving me massive stutters, even in the tower while selecting loadouts i tank under 60 for some reason or an other The most painful for me is while doing strikes, any of them with the chaos ends up being a miserable experience.

4 RepliesTo add to my info - Dungeon, prophecy was ok, 90% of the time, only right by final boss it had typical 100-110fps drops, looked like some npc animation cpu issue. - lawles frontier basecamp was ok, -Cosmodrome also ok -EDZ with new live event was ~100-120fps and jittery, so it's something with new event too. - tower is mixed bag, has more fps drops then not. Im forcing driver vsync, driver fps limiter doesnt work anymore *fullscreen optimizations off in windows, *new beta steam app ingame vsync and fps limiter have issues and cause extra negative fps drops Traversal framepacing stutters seem to be gone.

DxDiag: https://pastebin.com/kcMXKBjr Not sure why, but since the update, stuttering would start automatically whenever I enter crucible. whenever the match ends, everything goes back to normal. I have been playing Iron Banner consistently the last week, and I noticed this on each map in both mods (eruption and control). I noticed some stuttering in other pve modes, but the pvp one is weirdly consistent. Thank you

2 RepliesDXDIAG: https://pastebin.com/8scjfDC3 Video: https://imgur.com/a/VNG6pw9 Atm the video is quite blurry due to compression and may be unusable. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1lh3EpA0Lf7g_37jSduw0qNIUDpYQmnZM?usp=sharing I know you guys specifically said to not use Google Drive, but this data is worth it in this case imo. Platform: PC · Location tested: Moon (Sorrow's Harbor public event) · Reproduced across multiple destinations Summary Since the most recent Tuesday patch, frame rate drops significantly whenever dynamic entities (enemies, spawned objects) are in view. Looking at a wall or corner with no entities restores frame rate to near-normal. The issue is not GPU-related — profiling confirms it is a CPU-side regression, most likely in how entity state, draw calls, or memory is handled per frame. Steps to reproduce: Load into any destination with ambient enemy spawns (Moon Sorrow's Harbor confirmed; reproduced on other destinations) Face toward a group of enemies or wait for a public event to begin spawning mobs Observe frame rate drop and stutter — frame time spikes visible even with FPS cap disabled Turn camera to face a wall or static geometry with no entities in frame Observe frame rate recover significantly Measured impact — PresentMon (31,662 frames, ~5 min session) 122 - avg FPS 30 - 1% low FPS 97.8% - stutter frames: CPU bottleneck 6.6ms - avg GPU time on stutter frames 29.4ms - avg CPU busy on stutter frames 70% - avg GPU utilization (not saturated) On frames where frame time exceeded 16.67ms, CPU busy time averaged 29.4ms while GPU time remained at 6.6ms — the same as smooth frames. The GPU was not the bottleneck. The 1% low FPS of 30 against an average of 122 indicates severe periodic stalls rather than a sustained throughput issue. HWiNFO sensor data: GPU temperature peaked at 58°C with no thermal throttling detected. GPU power limits were not reached. GPU shader clock was actively scaling up during the drops — the GPU was trying to find more work and wasn't being given it. Max single-thread CPU utilization hit 89% during heavy-entity periods, averaging 72% sustained. Windows Performance Recorder (WPR) — CPU Usage (Precise): A 30-second WPR trace (CPU Usage Precise) was captured during active stutter. destiny2.exe process (PID 45048) showed the following on its primary hot thread (TID 58,772): Thread 58,772 CPU cycles used: 100,741 Ready time (µs): 792,672,700 ← thread wants to run but can't get scheduled Waits (µs): 4,460,807,600 Call stack root: └─ ntdll.dll <Symbols disabled> CPU cycles: 98,376 / 100,741 (97.7% of thread cost) Ready time: 780,288,500 µs ├─ destiny2.exe <Symbols disabled> — 1,193 cycles ├─ ?!? (unresolved module) — 1,152 cycles ├─ GameOverlayRenderer64.dll — 5 cycles └─ ntoskrnl.exe — 13 cycles The thread's Ready time (792ms out of the trace window) is far larger than its actual CPU execution time, indicating the thread is being queued by the Windows scheduler faster than CPU cores can service it. This is consistent with either a high-frequency polling/wake-up loop or a lock contention point introduced in the patch. Because Destiny 2's symbols are private, the exact game-side function calling into ntdll.dll cannot be resolved from this trace — but ntdll at this volume typically indicates heap allocation pressure. (RtlAllocateHeap/RtlFreeHeap) or critical section contention (RtlEnterCriticalSection). Hypothesis: The patch likely changed something in how entity state is batched, allocated, or synchronized per frame. The directional nature of the bug (camera angle matters, not player position) points to draw call submission or visibility culling as the trigger ; the game is doing significantly more CPU work per frame when non-static entities are in the view frustum. This was not the case before Tuesday's patch. Possible causes: increased per-frame heap allocations for spawned entity data; a new or unintentionally un-parallelized lock on the render or simulation thread; a change to entity tick rate or LOD evaluation frequency. System specs CPU: 8-core (16 threads), boosting to 5215 MHz · GPU: AMD Radeon (RX 7000 series inferred from HWiNFO MCD sensor layout) · RAM: ~36GB in use during session · GPU VRAM: ~4GB allocated to Destiny 2 · OS: Windows (confirmed via ntdll/ntoskrnl in trace).

1 ReplyTurning off steam overlay does nothing. Ive had it off forver. Removing proper exclusive fullscreen destroyed the frame pacing and the latest update nail in the coffin to it. Used to be locked 240. EoF and removal of exclusive fullscreen saw poor frame pacing and the last tuesday update has destroyed fps and 1% lows.

2 RepliesI've installed Epic version and recorded a comparison. STEAM: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SskNb3IYsgc EPIC: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LiXG2dcLQ-A DXDIAG: https://pastebin.com/77cyEu7F CVAR: https://pastebin.com/ZQAQpweJ Steam version is stuttering even when stationary and not moving the mouse. What is performance floor for Epic version, is performance ceiling for Steam version. The Performance Overlay is from AMD Adrenaline. It has "Micro Stutter" tracker, described by AMD as:
Micro Stutter Rate measures how many frames exhibit an instantaneous variance compared to the average frame rate over a 1-second sampling period.
STEAM: FPS: ~80 1%: ~40 Micro Stutter: Constant 3-5%, up to 10% GPU: Hovers around 60%, constantly drops down to 30-40%, never goes above 90% EPIC: FPS: ~120 1%: ~90 Micro Stutter: 0% GPU: Properly stays at 90%+ My PC Spec: SYS: Windows 10 CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600 GPU: AMD RX 6700 XT 12 GB RAM: 16 GB SSD 2TB 1440p V-Sync OFF, FreeSync ON Fullscreen Video Setting in Game Video Options. Fullscreen optimizations in properties of destiny2.exe - left default, meaning ON. (It stutters with OFF too.) Steam shaders: OFF Steam hardware optimization for web stuff: OFF Steam Input: OFF Steam Overlay: OFF (No solution helps) Settings between Epic and Steam versions are the same, same cvars file from Destiny2 AppData folder, that is shared between the two. Wish you the best guys, thanks for the game.

1 Replydidn't fix it today, yall still gonna fix this or nah?

4 RepliesTeam I'm sure you're aware at this point the frame pacing issue is only on steam. Someone else mentioned it but the very least you guys could do is allow DLC to be played on any cross progression platform so or at the very least Xbox / Epic so steam users can can switch and continue to enjoy the game. Thank you.

2 RepliesEdited by Neil_z: 7/7/2026 4:17:17 PMDear Team, I've seen there's no mention of this issue in today's patch notes, this is still happening and making the game unplayable at times. If no ETA on when or if this will be fixed, can the option to transfer our DLCs to other platforms (at no cost..e.g Free of charge) be opened up as a solution - so we can move to either Epic or Windows (Xbox) platforms to play the game without huge framerate drops. Cheers.

2 Replieshttps://youtu.be/JrvI-TRovBw https://pastebin.com/UgHPKbki This issue seems to only affecting Steam. No issues on Epic games. I notice these issues more when Im in any PVP mode.

4 RepliesI’ve tried both the Epic store version and XBOX PC App versions and the framepacing issue is not affected with those launchers, only Steam.

I've been experience the frame pacing issues that many PC players have mentioned, and I'd like to help out with finding fixes. I've also been receiving Plum errors on my system due to a BattleEye query failing. I have done some debloating and system hardening, but I've never installed software that would allow me to cheat, or affect the game in anyway. If you're unsure, there are Iron Banner matches included in the playlist below. Please bear witness to my... "skill." 1. I borrowed someone's idea and created a playlist of raw footage on Youtube, here's the link! https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLFSXR85MujBw Please feel free to skip around the recordings, as I didn't attempt any editing or cleanup. 2. PasteBin to my dxdiag: https://pastebin.com/ss1aF66h Yes, I'm aware I'm playing on an overclocked toaster, but I managed fine before the latest update. 3. Crucible Ops: Iron Banner, control and eruption on all maps, but especially on Exodus Blue and Widow's Court. Lawless Frontier: Bounty Hunt and Smuggle on each location on Grandmaster (Invadable or not), but particularly on Hellas Fortitude and Freehold Outskirts. Vanguard Ops: Solo Ops, Skywatch on Ultimate, Hive runs are almost unplayable while Fallen runs are manageable. Dungeons: Ghosts of the Deep. This occurs sporadically in other activities as well; however, SRL races are as smooth as butter. Doesn't help my driving at all, but hey, what can ya do. 4. Please refer to 3. Suggested Steam related fixes such as disabling the overlay, turning off GPU acceleration in webviews and disabling shader precaching reduced the intensity of the stutters, but they still occur frequently. 5. There are no precise reproduction steps in my experience. I do notice short, almost pauses right berfore being killed in the Crucible, especially if the fight was close (as in the other player was almost dead as well). A greater amount of enemies on screen (think Ecthar encounter in GotD or GM Lawless Frontier exfil objectives) cause increased stuttering and short pauses as well. 6. Please refer to 4, that's the best I've got so far. Thank you for your help, and I wish you all the best in these trying times!

I have been encountering this issue as well. It is practically identical to others who have responded to this post. It seems to only occur on the Steam platform. I have consistently been having frame stuttering issues when playing on steam, no matter what the activity is. I've been trying to adjust video settings and Steam settings as was suggested, but alas, the issue was not resolved. I eventually got frustrated enough to download the game through the Epic store. Playing through the Epic store results in a substantially smoother experience. There have been no frame stuttering issues and the game is running incredibly smooth. Here is my dxdiag: https://pastebin.com/sh1U4wQm. Hope it helps. I hope there is a solution to this issue. The game has been amazing for me on Steam for many years. Only in the past week or two have I had severe performance issues with the game.
-
From what I gather, this post is just here for the sake of it, and no fixes will be made for the performance issues on Steam. I had already raised the issue of PC performance back during the Halloween event on the Moon; I found it unacceptable that—with an i5-13600K, an RX 9070 XT, and 6000 MHz DDR5 RAM—I could drop below 90 FPS at 1080p on low settings, and the problem still persists! This studio couldn't care less about us or our performance issues. In the meantime, I upgraded my processor to an i9-13900K, yet the problems remain and have actually gotten worse since the update on Tuesday, June 23, 2026. This studio deserves its fate; the community has been more than patient and kind to them! At least being unemployed will give them more time to decide which hair color to choose.

still getting 30-60 frames when I used to get ~120 on steam. is it just gonna run like garbage forever or what?
-
I was consistently getting 140 fps during the weeks of the glitched artifacts. No problems at all.. All of a sudden I'm getting anywhere from 70-80 fps in pve. Especially in patrol areas it gets really bad. In pvp I'm getting really bad fps drops when I ADS with a 120 rpm hand cannon. I don't know why. I think whatever you guys did to patch the artifact glitches lowered game performances. Here's the link to my dxdiag https://pastebin.com/YBC5qMgS Please help

Only strikes are somewhat unaffected, but still have fps issues. Rest is a total mess. Fps drops all the time, pvp, tower, free roam.

1 ReplyEdited by Oddball-7: 7/8/2026 4:40:23 AMThe game is still running very poorly for me. The game has run perfectly on my PC for years, up until the first hotfix after MoT. It would be a shame to break the performance of the game with one of the last ever updates and then not fix it. I would hate for my final memories of this game to be spoiled by this.

1 ReplyGame is unplayable in this state. No statement in the patch notes Marathon has 3k players Gg
