When playing solo GM, it is nearly impossible to break an anti-barrier champion's shield with a primary anti-barrier intrinsic weapon (Ringing Nail, among others). I am no stranger to grandmaster difficulty and this feels significantly different from past experiences. I tried swapping to an anti-barrier heavy weapon (Hammer Head) and while it was able to break the shield, it was a close call. I have not tested this myself yet, but I have read that even Wishender is having trouble breaking champion barriers, which has always been an extremely reliable choice for GM content.
Even when playing in a full fireteam where everyone is running anti-barrier primaries, it is still quite challenging to break the shield. I do not know if this is intended, but it feels incredibly over-tuned, especially when the other champions can be stunned instantly with primary weapons with the respective intrinsic anti-champ perks.

2 RepliesEdited by Meat Fountain: 6/19/2026 1:24:26 AMBy coincidence, the Hammerhead I haven't taken off since the Actium War Rig rework is now anti-barrier and -blam!- melts them if killing tally and rampage are up. Not a great boss DPS option but it is good for everything else and can practically be used as a primary if the conditions are right. On primaries, kinetic tremors puts in work.

Was doing a Legend LS (crew Quarters / Moon) when I first experienced or became aware of the revised Barrier Champ problem. It was quite frustrating…and took a few Googles to figure it out viz certain weapon types. As I was already at the boss fight - I didn’t want to bounce and redo…that sphere just jigged every which way, and insta-refreshed…😠 TLDR: got it done…broke shield then mega DPS with Super / weapons…😈 What a pain! 😤 That is all. Carry On 🖖👻 MTFBWY

Probably one of the best anti barriers right now if you have it is the exotic vex from vog. Run it with particle reconstruction mod and with the updated perks of literal rewind rounds it eats through antis with barely any reload.

elitegall good 👍 Xcept > engram rate 👎 - old
tried a GM solo ops recently (not an expert) and I happened to get a Kinetic Tremor bow (Biting Winds) from Europa.. and it was solid. (guessing the 2 shot tremor doesn't allow the barrier'ista to bring up the barrier sometimes) Also, have to give a shoutout to D.F.A. with explosive + attrition orbs... it did the job and is an orb factory.. every 6 or 7 shots due to explosive counting as 2 or something. Scathelocke was good but Seventh Carbine not as good if I recall.. also Midnight Coup was not so good w/KT imo..will probably be better with explosive (oh I see new version has explosive + KT.. could be something)... Seventh Seraph Officer Revolver with seraph rounds + explosive - might be worth testing I wonder what would happen if I try a Randy's (overload) with armor-piercing rounds, under-over and KT.. if I can still bring them down... I was trying to think of what I would energy weapon wise and looking through.. gnawing hunger with withering gaze I guess.. or a bow I see king orfeo with explosive + jolt/precision maybe... hmm or Trust with explosive -
I use my Revision Zero and it still works great at Barrier Champions

Needing to meet a damage threshold to break the shield kind of defeats the purpose of ever using a primary for barrier. Unstop and overload are single hit to stun from any source now. Barrier, even a heavy linear won't 1 shot the shield. The best barrier breaker that I've seen are caster frame swords .

Yeah i had to put on 2 piece techsec and a kinetic tremors weapon to reliably stun them.

They need a buff for sure, even some of the exotics they gave intrinsic barrier suck for it. Thank god arbalest still one shots shields but eriana's vow doesn't, that needs a buff too. Or they could lower the barrier shield health. Both overload and unstoppable weapons stun in the first hit so why not barrier?
