1 ReplyI'm brand new player of Destiny2 and I'm having blast. I guess it will last for some months. I tried Marathon on freeWeek it is not my cup of tea.. BUT if they upgrade Marathon to be more like Destiny 2, Im in.. Especially if they implement those Vanguard ops (Xplayer PvE Coop).

From the people that gave you Edge of Fate and Renegades... Hard Pass

4 RepliesI'm afraid the haters are way too strong in these forums. I want D3. For some reason though people who say they quit years ago are still on these forums complaining and now they're trying to heap dirt on the grave.

No, i dont 🤷♂️ The bungie that made Destiny good has been gone since CoO, Forsaken and its success was all because of High Moon and Vicarious Visions and none of bungie, every bad DLC in the franchise history has been done when bungie was fully in control. Everyone blamed Activision when it was Bungie the whole time, Activision dropped them and the proof was in the pudding, bungie went independent, again, and everything flopped. Now everyone wants to scream at Sony, no; it was bungie...top to bottom, CEO to janitor. I dont want that team touching the franchise ever again, and with bungie being the literal heart and soul of the franchise shipping it off to another studio would feel like an entirely different game like Destiny: Rising. We gotta come to terms, Destiny as a franchis has been mishandled for over 6yrs at this point and needs to be shelved until fresh ideas and talent can come in and give it the revival it deserves...but thats a good 10+ years away. D3 doesnt need to be a thing, it will be DOA just like marathon. -
2 RepliesI want a balanced sandbox in D2. I want less grinding. I want fewer cheaters. None of which is likely to happen. No matter what happens with D3, it won't release for years. If you enjoy the franchise, then Destiny 2 is the game that matters for the next 2 to 3 years.
-
We want a good Destiny 3 yes indeed
-
7 RepliesNO! WE? Do you have a mouse in your pocket. NO way in heck do I want The current crop of devs at Bungie within 100 miles of D3 IF it is ever made. These are the same devs who came up with the Portal for crying out loud. Why would you want them making D3. They have zero clue what players want or will respond to.
-
i can't speak for other guardians but i personally do not want a destiny 3 especially if its made by bungle they couldn't get d2 right what makes you think d3 is going to be any different now if another game studio made d3 then maybe
-
I’d love a D3. But not from Bungie.
-
If made by another developer, sure If made by the same bungie who ruined destiny, it's just repeating history for the third time
-
1 ReplyIt won't happen. At the rate Bungie is being gutted, I wouldn't be surprised if we all woke up one day this Fall and found the servers offline without warning.
-
Nah not from this current team.

Edited by Fate: 6/17/2026 10:49:07 PMA Possible Alternative Future for Destiny 3 Bungie could create a full Destiny reboot built as a single unified platform, containing: All of Destiny 1 All of Destiny 2 (including Red War, Curse of Osiris, Warmind, etc.) Future Destiny 3 content added later via major patches/expansions Key pillars of the idea: Modern Engine & Technology Rebuild the entire experience on a modern engine to eliminate technical debt, improve performance, and allow long‑term expansion without content vaulting. Modern Compression & Asset Streaming Use current compression tech (Kraken, Oodle, DirectStorage, etc.) to keep the install size reasonable even with all content included. Unified Platform One launcher, one world, one progression system — no more splitting the player base between sequels. Full Player Save Data Carryover Characters, cosmetics, triumphs, titles, ornaments, and collections all transfer into the reboot at launch to respect player investment. Destiny 3 as a Future Expansion Instead of a separate game, Destiny 3 becomes a massive new chapter added to the unified platform when ready. Because let’s be real marathon is gonna flop it’s already started Marathon is a game that entered a declining genre with tons of competition It was too late to establish and shutting down destiny was the final nail in the coffin I give it until August Bungie and Sony will come crawling back to destiny in the fall They were not thinking long term destiny lasted as long as it has because it has no equal or competition
-
Or at least continued expansions in D2. The sandbox is in a great shape, now add more. It shows we will play it if its good.
-
2 RepliesNah. "We" don't need d3.
-
I personally think we need to wait for a couple years, because Bungie already made it clear the reason that they stop content for Destiny 2 is because they didn't have enough finance and enough Studio resources to continue Destiny 2; they felt like financially it would have been a better option to work on future game projects like continuation of marathon and maybe other IPS in the future. I personally think we will get a destiny 3 it's on the table, but not for at least 10 or 15 years that likely the money they give from new games they will imply it to Destiny 3 development. Bungie use the same reason why they canceled shattered cycle, which was supposed to be a Destiny two expansion that was in development since March and was going to be released in summer of this year.. I would say if you look at more information about shattered cycle you would know that game journalists confirmed the information streamers who have been to bungie Studios since 2017 also confirmed the expansion shattered cycle existence.. The fact they had some development completed for the shattered cycle expansion bungie could use that story from shattered cycle and apply to Destiny 3 if they wanted to..

Don't make it a live service, just a game with expansions and multiplayer. Sure you can flood the micro transactions, I don't care, but as long as there is quality content, and a cycle...people will obviously keep playing the game because they enjoy it (see Destiny, and now probably D2), while you work on a meaty significant expansion or a new Destiny title. Just, live services suck, trying to keep people entertained with water...it's kinda freakin' hard.

If all parts of it can be played solo, then "aye". Otherwise, it's a "nay" from me.
