With active live-service development concluding, the community is looking forward to the final state of Destiny 2. As we enter this permanent preservation phase, there is a massive opportunity to address a major archival issue: the hundreds of Year 1 cosmetic items, shaders, and weapon models that are technically still in the game files but completely unobtainable for players. Right now, items that define the early history of the game are entirely gatekept. Specifically, players are asking for a final path to acquire: -Year 1 Faction Rally Rewards: Armor sets, weapons, and shaders from Dead Orbit, Future War Cult, and New Monarchy. -Planetary World Shaders: Classic palettes like Dead Zone Foliage, Barkhan Forge, and planetary camos that were removed when vendor token systems were deprecated. -Legacy Vanguard and Crucible Gear: Early seasonal ornaments, armor variants, and specific weapon models that define the vanilla Destiny 2 era. Leaving these items permanently locked hurts both completionists and veteran players who want to celebrate the game's full history. Since active development is winding down, these items will simply be lost to time despite being viewable in our Collections tab. Suggested Solutions for the Final Maintenance Build: -Vendor Inventory Updates: Add legacy planetary and faction shaders permanently to Ada-1’s weekly rotation, or add them directly to Devrim Kay and Failsafe's inventory pools. -The Monument to Lost Lights: Expand the legacy archive kiosks in the Tower to include old Faction Rally weapons and armor sets for Glimmer, Legendary Shards, or Exotic Ciphers. -A Final Archive Eververse Bundle: Create a "Legacy World & Faction Bundle" available for Glimmer or Bright Dust, similar to the Year 1 Shader Bundle, to instantly unlock missing common and rare cosmetics for all accounts. Please consider a final quality-of-life patch to open the vaults and let players fully enjoy the massive sandbox of cosmetics and gear built over the last decade.
