2 RepliesTbh I think Sony saw how bad the hackers were in game, and said enough is enough and pulled the plug. The anti cheat is not working for destiny and or marathon. Sony now owns Bungie and these IP so I'm thinking that's also a reason why Sony is going back to console exclusively in the future. If destiny 3 comes I'm certain it will be a Sony exclusive to sell PS6 and PS5 consoles in the future. In a sense the hackers also helped kill the game.

Changing the game incessantly and deleting paid content did exponentially more harm than any lack of words. It's just the last of the hangers on that are upset now. The bulk of fans wrote Bungie off years ago.

1 ReplyYou can thank Justin for the most part. His train stations were the main reason things never got addressed until 6 months down the line unless it hurt Crucible too badly. Everyone was working on things so far in advance to the live game there were practically no resources dedicated to the live game. I miss when Destiny had a live team. They were quick to fixing things and brought us SRL and Rise of Iron.

11 RepliesWords wouldn't help, this is about business. Specifically return on investment. It's obvious Sony still believes in bungie, but they have to 'straighten things out' at Bungie. You do that by not spreading out the dev resources. Let them focus on 1 game for now while you do cleaning at the top management level. The better investment is to focus on the new game, not the 8 year old game. You give that game 1 last big bang and just leave the servers on. You clean up the top level management. After the company gets more stable and clean, then the talks and plans for more destiny begin to happen.

1 ReplyYes and no. Look at the community that plays the game. No matter what Bungie prints it gets ripped to shreds by us. That's why they don't visit the forums anymore. It's damned if you do, damned if you don't for Bungie.

I think you are right in this communication regard but what everybody is missing is that Bungie couldn't monetize it: If I was Bungie I told you - Vendors are getting a refresh and a new artifact is coming now pay me. You would not pay for that or at least Bungie could not assume that. Bungie had a tough time throughout the life of this game with the business model... What is it that people are paying for... what can you take away (sunset/dcv) what is free to play... it got away from them... The next live service has to have their financials sustainably in place. -
2 RepliesIt was told already, the numbers just weren't there and they held the fact D2 was being cancelled fo months. They wrapped up the updates they had in the pipe to leave the game in a reputable state and now Sony has to mitigate the damage that the upper tier con men at Bungie sold them on. We can stay strong as a fanbase by occupying the games and helping others to get through that got left behind over the years. Destiny still has alot of life left if we focus on the community now, do sherpa and teaching runs and really pay it forward. Many games last far beyond their content cycle and THIS community, if there ever was one, is extremely capable of making that happen.

It was a "multi-year" roadmap according to DMG but since the future got canned earlier this year its likely this is stuff that would've released within the next year. Wouldn't surprise me if there was a ton of stuff that was planned on that roadmap that we will never see.
