It was exciting to read about the changes in today’s article, especially knowing that there is more to come. But man, this sure put me back into the denial phase of grief.
Updates like this show what Bungie can do when they really cook, and I have to believe that these changes were labors of love by great developers who truly cared.
It left me feeling (wishing) that there was no way that D2 development can end next month. There is just so much cool stuff here. Yet here we are…
I’ll be there on June 9th. And I’ll definitely be playing this game for a good while longer. There’s too much good stuff not to.
Hope to see some of you there as well.
Ever onward,

2 RepliesJump up and slam... On the 9th Server party!!! let's kill the last expansion drop numbers!!! BEYOND THE END!!! TO THE LAST!!! THIS IS OUR DESTINY!!! ...post

It is just a sandbox change and Vendor update, with the addition of letting us use any artifact we want, Sparrow racing league, Pantheon and Bright engram focusing. So all in all it is a standard update with some extra ok additions.

5 RepliesEdited by BOOMBOXCOLLOSUSS: 5/29/2026 5:00:24 AMI'm going to propose something that will make everyone put their money....and time, where their mouth is. If we inhabit these games, those of us who are experienced (me not so much, but I have had several different accounts over the years), not as viewing them and ending with no new obstacles to conquor. If everyone that played the game would reach back and start being TRUE SHERPAS again, making posts for newbies and scrubs (as we all were) to reinvigorate the community and create a strong, united backbone as a point of entry and to recruit people to not only occupy, but get good at and fall in love with the game. Youtubers, content creators and the like could truly save Destiny as a franchise if they would shift focus to doin sherpa content. We have to go POSITIVE if we want to win this. We can't divide what's left and exspect positive results. D2 and Vanilla Destiny have alot of life if we approach this right.

10 RepliesIt's insulting, is what it is. It's Bungie p-sing on everyone and calling it rain. Everything - literally EVERYTHING - in the update has been requested/suggested by the players for YEARS. They could've added this stuff in at ANY time, but they didn't. Y'all are sitting here praising them for the creative ideas WE GAVE THEM. WT actual F is wrong with all of you? Where is your indignation? Your anger?

2 Repliesit proves to me that uppermangement WAS infact the problem. -blam!- pete parsons. the -blam!- ruined everything and got away with everything.
-
These updates weren't meant to be released at once, they are just doing it because this is it already. No need to drip feed anymore.
-
2 RepliesYes the update looks great. And let’s remember the devs learned this was the end when we did. So they’ve been working on that for months for us thinking the game will keep going. This is a true love letter from the dev to the player base, NOT a: “here’s the -blam!- you wanted, Bye!”
-
Everyone log on and wait in a queue for an hour!
-
2 RepliesAgreed, Bungie when they cook with no interruptions is the best Bungie. Looking forward to the update albeit an end of an era for us guardians 🍻🫡

Edited by Mark, Scholar of Stars: 5/30/2026 6:53:40 AMPeople who played Destiny 2 for a long time know everything about the countless ups and downs Bungie put them in with their development. This final update is a role model of what it should be and of what it mostly wasn't. They aren't at their crossroads for nothing. For years, Bungie was burning bridges. Sorry, but it's naive to think good developer—bad senior developer. Well, none of them are really terrible! But they're all in this together. Everyone has played his role for years. This made Bungie what it is today. The upcoming Final Life Service Update is damage control. They're trying to rebuild all those bridges they've burned. Because the Destiny IP has too much value for them. They can use it in the future again to rebuild their reputation. For now they take a break, a break from what they have done, to come back again to carry on somehow. Bungie should be remembered as "the" company with a nothing less than borderline agenda of content management and monetization, not as the "final update" Bungie. Seriously, lots of luck with that! Edit: Text addition and correction

1 ReplySeems like this was planned a while ago looking at the changes coming. Here's Everything you ever wanted.... And goodbye 👋

I’ll be there !

Yeah that does sound good. Damn shame it came too late, if they had launched this update after FS things wouldnt of played out like this lol
-
What i find weird ,all these changes just for a game to die. I think sony feel the pressure and might change theyr mind. Am i the only one that think its not the end after all?
-
just watching the raid and weapons update.

Edited by Racket UK: 5/29/2026 4:00:05 PMThe same management team, runs Marathon and Destiny 2, they killed Destiny 2, and look what's happened to Marathon in just over 2 months lol, that just shows how bad the management team is, and yet they say Destiny 2 is old that's why it's died, Marathon is just over 2 months and it's dead, lol. So they talking F****** S***, it's the Management, they're that bad, they should be put in the Guinness book of records.

Edited by Cryen-7: 5/29/2026 7:47:24 AMYes, I had the same feeling when I was reading that update. This is how you do it. Damn Bungie what have you done! I can't believe that you are ending updates for Destiny. June updates shows that you have the skills to cook and now you walk away. Im gonna take couple beers tonight.
-
So frustrating to know that the devs could have given us EXACTLY what we all wanted, but the execs didn't let them and made them work as a skeleton crew.
-
These are just things that they should have added years ago. But why would they ? it would make us happy and Bungie hates making us happy.

9 RepliesAlso i know nothings true yet, but remember the heading on a post The new beginning, It would make sense what was the start of Destiny, Destiny 1, a new beginning could be a remastered version. I've just seen a video where an ex bungo dev mentions d1 remastered, it might mean nothing.
