Its alot more realistic than a D3 (i still want a D3), but prove to Sony you can do it. Get rid of the deadlines and just do a expansion every year or so. Other games have walked back on decisions like these, so it's not out of the realm it happens here. It's a smart choice to put the game on delay due to all the hate, but you can definitely come back strong for the 10th year anniversary of destiny 2 next year. Also I hope the community can rally behind d2 getting more updates that might just not be on a deadline. A third darkness subclass and xivu story would make millions we both know it.

1 ReplyThere’s rumors of destiny infinity being one of the pitches which is one huge content drop a year like old days they thought it would be to expensive but I agree not a bad idea

You need to look at it through a business perspective Year after year sales decrease and so do player numbers It’s time…

10 RepliesI gotta disagree. I think live service is what killed the game... the constant demand for new content, the constant criticism of new content... having to dish out money each season for new rewards, dungeon keys, pre-orders... it puts the human mind in a constant state of "should I even buy this" and "am I getting my moneys worth?" ... which inevitably leads to burn-out and taking breaks. how many players complained about the seasonal model, then complained when they removed the seasonal model.... they dont want content drip fed or time-gated, but when its released all at once, they rush thru everything then complain there's nothing to do... live service is the epitome of quantity over quality. The reason why ppl still play D1 is cuz there's no live service aspect. Bungie hasnt added anything new to the game that would enhance it, nor ruin it. When you log in, you know what you're getting. When the game is "feature-complete" at launch, it NEEDS to be good, as the studio has only that one opportunity to impress the audience. D2 is full of bugs & spaghetti code. I dont think the game could physically take anymore updates, even if it was the most amazing content Bungie ever conjured up. I truly hope it remains playable, just like D1, but the D2 updates need to end now. Heck, they should've ended at Final Shape. If this is the end of Destiny, lets go out with some dignity & stop slapping more band-aids onto the decrepit servers... and if its not, then I hope a potential D3 will get new engines, new anti-cheat, and a completely new dev team of mostly gamer bros who are actually passionate about shooter games & can deliver a complete game at launch, that will last several years without needing any live content updates. And maybe a few years after that, we get a D4 and so on, without completely ruining (and breaking) the previous versions.

2 RepliesI don't understand the decisions by businesses to gut industries and never look back. Sony is definitely part of the problem. Perhaps some honesty in order from these businesses. They basically withheld info not to look bad. Then once it was bad had to divulge. Then made a decision. Clear lack of transparency and lack of trust. Most of d2 crowd won't look fondly on Sony or Bungie if they lose what they invested dearly in.

Edited by MC 077 Lasombra: 5/26/2026 11:57:15 PMFunny thing is that you can’t get a 3 if they keep developing 2’s content. None of the story is plotted out, it’s made up one chunk at a time. It’s years of lag time between the start and release, you can schedule the storylines to coincide. Cause development schedules never pan out. So a new base game requires 2 to stop development. Im pretty sure there are two full base game and two-three dlcs worth of content in the game. Honestly Sony should scrap the EoF and Renegades content, it’s mostly retcon spaghetti anyway, and pick up 3 after the TFS episodes. And no, a dlc for a small group of hanger on fans makes less sense than a new base game that addresses a ton of concerns and can draw in more new faces and encourage veterans to come back. A new base game is the only thing that will save Destiny.

Totally agree; strong expansions sell.

Right? They could have could have just said “Holding off on live service content until further notice” Destroying the whole franchise for a slip extraction shooter is diabolical lmao
-
What i don't get is why doesn't Bungie put out what the devs were working on for Shattered Cycle in the June update. Supposedly they were still developing it when we all found out no more d2.
Its alot more realistic than a D3
Two different versions of never going to happen aren't any more or less realistic than one another.
