I wanted to take some time to give the people at Bungie a thank you from the bottom of my heart, and from the community too and it feels stupid I’m crying over a game so -blam!- you haha. I was 12 when Destiny 1 released. Growing up, I was poor and didn’t have a lot. My family, siblings, and I were all separated at a young age because of a CPS case that lasted around 8 years. I got taken from school one day and didn’t see them again for about 6 years. Speeding past all of that, my dad was finally back home and we were all together as a family again. Most of the stuff we had was still from the 90s and we owned a -blam!- ton of VHS tapes. On my birthday, my parents scrounged up enough money to buy a family console for all of us kids, and the first game they bought was Destiny since I would always watch GhostRobo at the time and saw pre alpha footage and it reminded me of halo 2/3 which I adored growing up at my buddy’s house. It was the first time I made online friends since before CPS, and holy -blam!-, it was perfect. I met so many people. Some my age, some older, some younger too. But it was amazing. The friendships and memories along the way helped me through so much. Fast forward to 2017, I finally owned a laptop that I worked my -blam!- off to save up for by doing odd jobs during the summer. My brother and I preordered Destiny 2 and we loved every aspect of it. When the Steam migration happened I wasn’t home, and eventually I lost my characters. Since then I’ve been on and off Destiny 2, but I always come back. Sometimes to see old buddies, sometimes to meet new people, or sometimes just to sit AFK and admire the world you guys created. Thank you for helping me get through such a rough childhood. Thank you for giving me an environment where I could meet people I’m still friends with today, or at least reminisce about. I truly hope this isn’t the end of Destiny, but if it is, you guys, despite all the ups and downs, truly made something really -blam!- special.
