Even if they DID decide to try and save their sinking ship by rushing out a D3, it'll be made by the same people who destroyed D2 and put all their eggs in Marathon. Smh.

Well if you want to think about it, it’s a reason to stop development on 2. Even if the update was ready to go, the narrative in it is tainted and unfinished, but the plot has to stop years in advance because the lag time between the start and release of a new base game. Everything after TFS and its episodes is just fan fiction retcon spaghetti anyway lol I mean the 9 can’t go back in time but we only won because Elsie kept looping back in time in her loops to save us? And they manipulated that eh? 🤦 So from Sony’s perspective, you have to stop active development, review the narrative and systems and decide where to restart from and plot it all out. You gotta have a firm starting point for the base game, releasing more content makes that impossible. Cause they could, and should, scrap the entire EoF saga and reboot from just after the post TFS episodes. Cause EoF retconned a lot and stole the meta narrative from the Gardener/Winnower and gave it to them. Not only is there a whole games worth of normal enemies, Xivu and the Vex, but the Gardner and Winnower plot could make another. Theres at least two whole games worth of content in just the unfinished major plot lines. Not including dlcs that can dive in others.

ill be happy if the final update didn't brick the game while its ending further development lol

Idk , the Devs crying on twitter because they're getting laid off & found out when we did about the ebd, kinda kills this dead. I'm more worried about the game is left, given this was content for the next year, it's potentially gonna be left in a bad state with things like guardian ranks, strikes rotations, weekly stuff, just left stuck in a stasis forever. Hope they've time to leave it as a finished state & not messed up & I had hope but now I don't given what the Devs have said.
